Guys, I need some SERIOUS hair care advice!! I admit I have abused my hair for months now with blow drying and using the flat iron and now my hair is SEVERELY DAMAGED. As long as I slick it back in a ponytail, you cant really tell. But the hair on top of my head, which used to be LONG is now very short and brittle. I really cant tell if its just styling damage or if I'm going bald. The hair on my head is still very thick, but it wont grow long anymore. Almost like I have an accidental mullet (but like I said, you can only notice if I wear my hair down). I wear my hair in a ponytail all the time due to work and karate training (i try not to tie it too tight but Im sure that has caused some of the damage too.)so I didnt really notice until the other day when I tried to go out with my hair down but looked at it in the mirror and said "OMG!!" I mean its really bad. Is there any shampoo or conditioner you guys recommend that can help repair severely damaged hair? I REALLY dont want to shave it off and start over. I have had hair down to my shoulder blades for four years and LOVE IT!!! But my friend's wife said it will never heal and there is nothing I can do to repair the damage so I just have to buzz it off and start over. Please let me know if you guys know anything I can do to repair my hair. I am freaking out over this.
Just stop destroying your hair and new growth will eventualy fill in the shorter parts. Good luck!
Hey,
I would have to agree with Vincent. Just stop using the blow dryer and flat iron, and doing other things to damage your hair and you should be fine! It might not hurt to try a shampoo marketed towards dry/damaged hair for a bit, too.
I honestly don't do much to my hair and it seems to be okay! I wash it about once a week or so, and I brush it a couple times a day, that is about it.
Perhaps you could post a photo of it in its damaged condition? It's possible that either its not as bad as you think, or maybe by seeing it someone might be able to make a better recommendation.
Hope you get back to healthy hair soon!

I agree with Vincent too. We all learn some things the hard way. You wanted to play with it too much, you ruined it, and now must live with it until it grows out. That's Physical Reality. Your feedback is your teacher. You'll be fine in a few years. If you learn your lesson. You taught it to yourself real hard, so you should probably get it real well too then.
Element,
I would just echo what Vincent and Kif said. Stop using the iron and the blow dryer. Wash it once a week. I would suggest that when you wash your hair use Garrier Fructis mixed with Tea Tree Oil, about 10 drops of it per tbsp.
Show us some pics and let us know how the recovery is coming. I'll be praying for you. We're all here for you, bro.

So if your hair is now in a shorter growing cycle, you are the natural model for what people made a "mullett." Over the years mine has become a natural "feathering." Same deal, with no haircut it simply grows in a style some pay money for.
Same deal with hair color. Some spend 100's of dollars on a color which others have for free.
With that said, Malibu Miracle Rapair Power Protien Builder Shampoo and Conditioner will fix thin hair (Blond.) Im sure it works on thick hair too but dont know anyone who tried it.
