Crazy question here, after all of this coconut oil talk, I tried it out and kept it in my hair all day. I have very thick and wavy hair, so I'm at the stage now where it is completely poofy. Needless to say, I have to use gel/wax/name the hair product to keep it looking nice and professional.
But when I used the coconut oil in my hair, it actually kept it down! I mean, it wasn't bad at all. I guess my question is, why don't guys like us (growing out long hair, don't like the damage that hair products do to hair, etc.) use some type of oil like this in place of these gels?
Suggestions/advice/tips welcome.
Hey Shark,I'm glad to hear you had good results using the coconut oil as I was pleasantly surprised myself. Now I've been a longhair for decades and only now discovered the benefits from this oil.Goes to show what a valuable service the mlhh provides.I like how silky smooth it makes my hair feel and that it does keep down those pesky flyaway hairs!LOL.Yes, my hair looks a bit flat with the oil in but the pluses outweigh the minuses I think:)Cheers

Coconut oil is the secret, either parachute or dabur vatika.
It never really washes out but it protects your hair, makes it stronger and with just a little of water and I can tame my hair and sort of style it. I threw away all my hair products and if I go a little overboard with the coconut oil, a little bit of baby powder will take away the greasy look.
good stuff
Yeah! As long as it's below 75 degrees, it does make a good hair gel! I always wanted a natural hair gel too! Egg white & water works too. That's what the Elizabethans used.

Thanks for the replies! See, in my opinion, even when it's above 76 degrees (point where it becomes liquid), it still has a nice shine to it and holds my hair in place. And I think it looks less "greasy" than other oils, like olive oil (might just be my mind playing tricks on me though). I would love to use it in place of hair gel/wax, but I don't want to be that guy that people are talking about, saying "what's in his hair and why does it look so greasy???!". See what I mean?
Yes, I see what you mean. ;p
