My last update was about a year ago so I guess it's time for a new one. Still growing without trims, I've got a lot of split ends now but it doesn't seem to harm my growth. Instead it grows better then ever, probably because I live a lot healthier. As you can see from the pictures I gained a lot of muscles in the last year.
The picture on the left is one year ago and the two on the right are from last week. One with my hair wet the other with my hair dry. Remember this picture from Absalom: http://www.mlhh.org/archive/?269122 it only took me 12 months instead of 21 :)
I'm almost at my goal of belth lenght hair (when dry) not sure what I will do once I reach that. Growing my hair is an addiction, the longer it get's the longer I want it. My original goal was shoulder lenght, but once I reached that I just kept it growing to see if I liked it. I still do, allthough I do seem to get more tangles and the hair get's caught easier. Well we'll see what the future brings.
I've also grown my first full beard the last three months, this is a picture from the good side. The other side doesn't have a lot of coverage, but it's getting better every year, this was the first time it was good enough to grow it out. From now on I will grow a beard every winter because I really like it.
Hoi Vincent,
You're a fast grower, impressive length!
Keep the beard, also in summer, you seem to have the face for it (ie. remote Mikael Akerfeldt lookalike) and is very metal. \m/ >_< \m/
Groet
Thanks :)
Yeah my hair and beard do seem to grow fast.
I don't care to look like Mikael or very metal, I just do whatever I like.
I've had a beard in the summer before, but at some point I always get sick of it and want to try something else. So to prevent from not having an even tan, I shave it off when it get's warmer from now on.
But I do have a shorter beard most year, I just don't like shaving much. My skin is very sensetive.
I like chaning my appearance, I've never looked the same more then 4 years. Before I started growing my hair I changed my hairstyle often. Since I don't want to do that anymore I experiment with my beard instead.
Great looking beard Vincent and mine will have been growing a year in March :-)
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks John,
Awesome, looking forward to the pictures.
Hello Vincent,
looks like you have some great progress there! I hope you reach your goal of belt-length very soon!
-Kif
Hey Kif,
Thanks, with my current growth rate I should have no problem at all reaching belt lenght hair.
Hi Vincent, what an awesome update! You hair is really progressing nicely and I wouldn't at all be surprised that you should make belt length or even longer:)You certainly have great hair genes. Also its great that you are working on a healthier lifestyle:)That is good for not only your body but hair as well.Trust me, keeping yourself healthy starting from a young age is DEFINATELY worth it my friend:)That's what I did and now I feel I've benefited from that now that I'm older. Thanks for the update.Cheers
Mark
Thanks Mark,
I'm blessed with great genes indeed, waist lenght in 3 years and probably belt lenght within 4 years is very fast :)
That's what I figured, I've had my party days but they are over now. My big goal is to be healthy and fit my whole life and the best time to start with that is today not tomorrow. Gradualy I made a lot of changes over the last 2 years and it changed a lot of how I feel right now. Good to hear from someone who benefited from there good choices early in life, that's certainly an encouragement.
Glad you like my update!
The hair looks great, and the extra muscle mass suits you. Keep up the good work.
Frodo
Thanks Frodo, I'm very happy with both the muscles and the hair and will keep up growing them both :)
The hair looks awesome, Vincent. Looks like you've muscled up a bit, too. Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing the inspirational pics.
--Val
Thanks Validus,
Yeah, I've been climbing two times a week and doing bodyweight exercises like pushups 3 days a week so the training is paying of.
Glad you like the pictures.
Absolutely magnificent. You should be very proud of your accomplishment thus far. I suspect that once you reach belt-length, you'll want to continue growing it even longer, much longer in fact. As you said, once you start growing it, it's like an addiction, but oh what a wonderful addiction. Please keep everyone posted with follow-up pictures as your gorgeous hair grows longer, and longer, and longer.
Thanks Marco,
I'm very proud indeed, couldn't have thought I get this far. Probably will keep on going after my goal but we'll see. I really like my new addiction a lot better then my old ones. Of course I will keep everyone updated.
Hi Vincent,
It is always good to get an update from you, and you have grown amane to be proud of. It certainly grows quickly as well!
Keep it growing,
David
Hey David,
I'm very proud indeed, and take very good care of my hair. It sure grows quick, very happy with the growth rate.
Thanks for your comment.
Wow! Your hair looks awesome dude! That is truly a mane to be proud of. I feel the same way you do, the longer my hair gets, the longer I want to grow it. I myself actually posted an update last week, if you want to take a look its a little ways down the page.
Anyways, take care and keep it growing Vincent!
Luke.
Thanks Luke,
Guess all longhairs have the same addiction. I saw your update, our hair is very simmilair. Your hair looks great too, keep up the great work!
I still read everything, I just don't post a lot nowadays.
Vincent,
To me your hair looks just INCREDIBLE!!!
I chase after my own split ends by using the "Search & Destroy" method of snipping off the individual offending hair ends. I find it easy, relaxing to do, and very calming -- and it always feels better afterward, too (not to also mention doesn't cost me even a penny, since there is no hairstylist involved - LOL)!!
"Onward & Downward!"
- Ken
Hi Ken,
Wow thanks for your nice compliment.
I'm aware of the s&d method but I haven't bothered to do it, takes to much time. It will probably be better for my hair but it's good as it right now. Thanks for your advise anyway.
Hi Vincent,
Wow...thanks for the amazing update and your hair certain grows fast that's for sure and almost another milestone reached. Just love the shine and sheen of you hair.
I suppose once you start you can't stop. Keep it growing mate.
Cheers,
John.B
Hey John,
No problem, glad you like it. It does grows fast indeed, couldn't have thought I reached this milestone this fast.
I will keep it growing of course :)
-----------------------------------
Your hair is gorgeous, Vincent. Tangling is a part of having long hair. I contain my hair with multiple hair ties, which makes things much easier, with much less tangling. 5 or 6 of them would work well for you and make hair care much easier. I am always aware where my hair is to avoid getting it caught in things.
I see your hair grows a lot faster than I predicted. for most of us, it is 12 or 13 millimeters per month. Yours probably grows about 20 millimeters per month.
Looking good, keep it growing.
Scott
Thanks Scott,
I knows tangling is part of having longhair and I've grown more accustomed to it but it's still the part I hate most about having longhair.
I've tried a number of things, like braiding, bunning, and multiple ties and they all work but I like the look of the loose ponytail better. So I guess to price I have to pay is more tangles and that's ok with me. For me there is no point in having longhair if it's not visible.
I can understand why you protect your hair with multiple ties seeig your goal is maximum lenght. My goal is not maximum lenght. I just want it as long as possible while still wearing it in a tail and loose sometimes.
You prediction rate was good for the first 2,5 years, but after that it seem to have speed up. Probably because I live a lot healthier nowadays then when I started to grow my hair.
Nice hair and body!! Just curious if that is your natural hair
color or if you had highlights added at some time.
Keep it growing, you are doing great with both your hair and
health.
Thanks for you compliment.
It is my natural color.
The "highlights" are probably caused by the sun shining on my hair for more than 3 years. The longer it get's the lighter my hair becomes. Because I wear it in a tail most of the time not all hair get's sun so because of that it looks like highlights. I like the effect :)
If I compare the tip of my hair with my root the difference in color is very noticeable.
Looking just fantastic Vincent!
Impressive rate of growth for sure - and the beard looks great too.
Onward and Downward!
- Oren
Thanks Oren
Looks great!!
Wow your hair looks amazing. Keep it growing you'll be glad you did when you reach your goal.
Good luck
Thanks, of course I will and I'm already happy with my hair the way it is now.
Nothing but the words of praise, my dear Vincent. A true 'Bourbon royalty'-style mane, mildly wavy and goldish. Do remember to keep it growing!
Nikola
Thanks Nikola,
A very nice way to describe my hair, I will wear it proud!
Vincent,
Your hair is looking great now that it is at lower back length! Good job!!
peace, jonalbear
Thanks Jonalbear,
I like it at this lenght a lot.
Looks great vincent, right on schedual, your friend James
Thanks James :)
Hey Vincent,
It's really impressive how your hair has maintained its fast growth rate. My growth rate started to decline somewhere around mid-back.
I have to say its condition is fabulous. However, if you're getting lots of tangles, the split ends could definitely be contributing. I know you don't like trims but a quarter inch one would be unnoticeable and yet would promote less tangles. You might even gain more length in the long run.
Jason
Hi Jason,
I was amazed myself and verry happy. You were always a big inspiration for me and I seem to have passed your lenght which I could have never guessed.
My hair is quite strong and healthy indeed, but I guess your right and I started considering that option myself. Thanks for the advice.
Gorgeous hair!!!! Awww, grow it to your knees!!!!! Haha! ;D
Thanks :)
Well that's not really an option for me although that would be very unique. But way to much hassle.
Yeah! ;D It would be alot of hassle. Your hair's very very nice, and quite long already. A little longer & you would already have what alot of people would consider very long hair.
Most people already think it is very long. I only know one friend with longer hair then me.
I can believe that. I just worked with a guy today remodeling a microsoft office, who was doing computer cable install, and his hair was halfway down his back. I complemented him on it, he thanked me. It's longer than I usually see. But he said he'll get a few inches cut off, it's longer than he wants to deal with. It was in a loose ponytail, and I said, 'yeah, when I used to wear it that way on the job, it would bother me too, coming around and slapping me in the face when I bend over.' he said 'Yeah.' His was thick, wavy, dark brown. Thick right to the ends. He had a little goat & was easy to look at too. I've seen a construction supervisor who actually had a braid to his waist! In housebuilding. They either learn to manage it or keep cutting it. I kept cutting mine till I learned the hairstick bun thing. It's fun having hair this long isn't it? ;p I've never had it down to my elbows before, and it's been long most of my life I guess. I think once it gets very long, people stop making fun ( some people anyway) and they just get awed over the accomplishment and endurance.
You're nice Vincent.
I totaly regonice your story. Lol about the part when the hair is slapping in the face. I know there are other options but I like to have it loose. I rather cut it shorter then wear it in a bun or braid. But until now I don't care about the hair slapping in my face. The moment I do, I put in my tail in my shirt. I wear my hair proud in a ponytail. When I wouldn't care having hair in my face then I would wear it loose all day. But that's something I can't stand.
Yes, when you start growing people are testing you once they see you don't react and persist growing it they stop bothering you. It's not only true with growing hair but with everything in your life. Most people will never accomplish a lot because they don't believe they can. Or they give up when they hit resistance. Resistance is a way of testing to see if you really want something. By growing my hair and beard I learned some valuable lessons for my life!
Thanks.
Hey Vincent.
Awesome mane, dude!
Could you share with us what your routine for caring for your hair is?
Keep it growing!
Raymond
Thanks Raymond,
I posted about my routine before so I will just repeat it over here. The only thing I changed is I wash twice a week now, because I get more tangles.
--------------------------------------------------------
My hair care routine is al about my hair looking good with the least input from me. What I came up with after a lot of experimenting is the following:
-Wash once a week
-Only wash with water (takes about 2 months for your scalp is ajusted to this)
-Put a lot of conditioner in and finger comb out all the tangles and remove the shed hairs. I put conditioner only in lower half of my hair.
-Rinse with cold water
-Gently squeeze some of the water out with my hands
-Wrap it in a towel and gently squeeze some more water out of my hair
-Let it air dry, this can take a lot of time but my hair looks best this way.
-The most important step, do nothing with it until the next shower a week later!
I've got wavy (waist lenght) hair, so it tangles easy but once it's tangled it doesn't seem to tangle more. When I do nothing with my hair it forms nice spirals instead of being more frizzy. I love longhair but I don't want to spend a lot of time maintaining it. It takes me 45min per week and looks very good this way.
I have found that rotating conditioners works best for me. Do you use different brands or stick to one or two favorites?
I stick with one favorite, but changes recently because the other was sold out. Something to give a try, thanks for the tip.
Looking great - you clearly don't require any help with your addiction!
Lol, it's a great addiction to have :)
Awesome progress, Vincent ! Hair and beard look nice. Congrats for the gain of muscle ;)
Vivien.
Thanks Vivien.
Yes not only the hair and beard are growing, the muscles are too. There all free to grow and enhance your apparence :)
Great update, Vincent, and a fantastic mane too.
I know what you mean about your goal length changing. I'd originally planned on trimming mine at mid-back, but when it got there, I decided to grow it to waist-length. It's now just long enough to sit on, and I have no plans to start snipping any time soon!
Thanks,
I guess a lot of people over here have the same. I can't really imagine sitting on my hair and if I have to say today I will never let it get that long but you'll never know what happens.
Congratulations on the fantastic length! Healthier eating and living seems to have done you well.
Take Care
Hey Allen,
Thanks for your comment. Yes it feels amazing, I've never been in a better shape. And the faster hair growing is a nice bonus.
Very Nice! Congratulations
