Yesterday Bill posted the following explanation of the two week rule:
Instead, we follow what we call "the two week rule". It has no dates in it. What it says is, "If two weeks go by and I don't want to keep my hair at any time during that continuous two weeks, then I cut. If I have a moment of not wanting to cut, then at that moment the two week clock is reset, and I start the two weeks over."
I'd had a different concept of how the rule worked, but I like Bill's version better. And going by this version, I'll never cut mine, because while I've had periods when I've been frustrated with my hair, I doubt I've ever gone more than two weeks without saying to myself "I love having this stuff!!" and, voila, instant reset.
Frodo
Its easier to do the reset when its long enough to put in a tail, when your having a bad hair day. am i right or wrong
James
Even then, it can be frustrating. There have been times when, if I'd had a pair of scissors, I'd have chopped the lot off on the spot!
OMG! u are so right!! I had a moment like that today--Almost chopped it off because of frustration of not finding a job---But I just trimmed it instead and glad I avoided the impulse---Someone said on this post but I can't remember who said it...'Cutting is easy-It's growing that's hard" Aint that the truth brother...
Hey Frodo,
My sentiments exactly -- especially after having impulsively chopped off my long hair back in Y2K (which was long before i even had a computer, or ever knew about "the 2-week rule" or MLHH)...
I guess in my case, I unfortunately needed to learn the value of having (and keeping) long hair the hard way.
As a sympathetic longhaired neighbor said to me shortly after my Y2K haircut, "Easy to cut, hard to grow!" (Ain't that the truth!!)
