Alright, so... 2 days ago (sorry for spamming the board with newb threads...) I posted about my problems with my hair getting too wavy and poofing out.
Since this week I'm pretty much alone at the office, I decided to say "What the heck" and just used that warm oil thing I'd read about (I used standard olive oil... felt kinda weird to use 'food' on your hair...)
The result... can any of you spell 'GUNK' ?
Seriously, my hair felt like a solid slab of lard, and I'm pretty sure I got some silly looks from the security people when I got to the office.
However, it seemed to settle, somewhat. After a couple of hours, I could comb my fingers through it and it wouldn't feel quite as yucky.
So, the BottomLine? I think I'm probably gonna do it once or twice a week, to see if it helps with the thickening... what do you guys think?
I'm leaving a pic of what my hair looked that night, complete with a tiny milestone that seriously made my day.
I'm sure it'll feel a whole LOT better when I can put 'all' my hair in a tail, but for now... this feels AWESOME =)
As always, comments and suggestions are appreciated greatly
Everyone take care.
Great beginning. Your hair looks great and will look even better as it continues to grow.
Thanks for the comment.
I'm trying my best to care for it the best possible, so I'll get it to grow long and healthy.
I would recommend giving up the oil approach. As you say it looks and feels dreadful and will give the wrong impression about 'dirty' hair.
The awkward stage is best ignored or else use conventional hair traetments such as moose or spray.
Well, the 'heavy' feeling eventually went away...
I have a feeling it might be cuz I used 'too much' oil. I used it a couple more times since, using just a little bit to cover my hands, and it feels less 'gunky'
I might still do it once or twice a week, and either leave it on overnight, or when I'm alone at the office.
Thanks for the comment
Are you using a plain ol' rubber band to tie your ponytail with?! DO NOT DO THAT!!! You will seriously damage your hair with that thing. You can find some great ponytail holders (that are also black or brown in color - which will look better IMO) at just about any grocery or drug store.
Yes, I know... it was just a 'trial', so see if I could do it... and even then, it wasn't 'too' tight.
I'm not planning to do it very often anyway, at least until I can keep 'more' hair tied up.
Thanks for the comment, though.
No problem, my friend. Happy to help. I recently made some bad mistakes that caused me to buzz all of my shoulder blade length hair off...just dont want to see anyone else unknowingly make bad choices and damage their hair as well.
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it
I'm trying to be as careful as I possibly can, and then some... trying to stay away from newbie mistakes and all...
Take care =)
Ah the tiny tail, I remember that in the not so distant past. I remember that's when I first started wearing hair bands around my wrist even though I didn't really need them yet. The length looks good, happy growing! Be sure to come back and post some update pics, I'm new to the board myself and really enjoy seeing all my fellow longhairs on here!
