Hello again to my fellow longhaired dudes! dont like the word " Lurking " it sounds so lucidious, rather I've been " Reading Admirablly ". Been here before 2 yrs ago, but cut my hair due to employment. It's been 14 months now since I cut my hair. Have always grow my hair on and off for the last 20 years. Posted a pic last time I was here showing me in my wedding pic as my hiar was as long as my wife's.( will post again)
I do enjoy visiting this board for encouragement and learning. I hope to keep my hair but now that Im unemployed & have a wife and 2 kids to support, Im feeling the pressure to look " business like " again.
Any how just wanted to finally say " Wazzup " !
Cheers,
Glinka
Hey-Keep your hair long. It suits you well. Good luck!
Thank you J Long for the encouraging words I feel it suits me well also !
Glinka-
I was feeling the pressure to cut my hair off the other day too! And thankfully I found this board which has been very encouraging...about 10 years ago I had my hair almost to waist length and because employment I too started to cut my hair off gradually. (And you know that once you cut it off you simply say WTF and you just keep cutting it) But 3 years ago I decided to grow it long again because I have never felt more of myself than when I had my hair that long. ( I can only imagine how long it would be now if I hadn't cut it) I'm unemployed too, and have been looking for work-but my hair is staying-I'm also finishing my degree in graphic design. A year left yeah!!At least that field is more accepting of different appearances..Well good-luck in the job search!! It is tough out there and we all need encouragement!!
If you want to be "business like" then stand up for yourself and look how you want! When you lack the self confidence to be who you naturally are, then people will see you also lack being business like too. When people see you proudly having long hair and you except people to accept you with it automatically, people will know you're in control and that you have the "balls" rather than "breasts". Take Jimmy McMillan for example, who's running for President now. This guy takes shit from nobody and has a great sense of humor to go along with it! He's an example of a real (independent) man! That's the kind of person both men and women can admire.
JMM Thanks for your reply, well I know ive got the balls since Ive gone to 4 interviews now with my hair in a ponytail and moused down and 3 out of 4 they said it was professional enough look...still didnt get the job. My field is Construction Management and its a very macho conservative look. Does this Jimmy McMillian have long hair?
Jimmy McMillan has a Hulk Hogan look, just on a black man. He admits this himself. Oddly, he claims to be a karate expert! He is a Vietnam veteran and founded The Rent Is Too Damn High Party. Yes, he does have a bald spot though as does Hulk Hogan.

Is Jimmy McMillan a longhair?
