I'm not calling this an update, 'cause they're front shots that don't show the length all that well, but thought y'all might get a chuckle from them anyway.
These are shots of me in Viking garb for one of the historical groups I work with in my spare time.
Frodo
p.s. These are a couple weeks old, so that's how my beard looked before the trim I posted about a little while ago.
Do you have a picture of after the butchery happened?
Not yet. I'll see if I can manage to post one before growth makes it a moot point.
Here's a pic of what it looks like now. It wasn't so much a butcher job as just not what I wanted.
It doesn't look bad at all, but like you said, if its not what you wanted then it's just about learning who to go to with trimming.
Great pics and I am supremely jealous of your terminal length which apparently hasn't even been reached yet!
Thanks. Don't know if I've hit terminal yet. Every time I start thinking so, a month or two later I realize it's gotten longer when I wasn't looking. Sneaky stuff, lol.
These are great pics. You appear to be at the Viking version of "At Ease".
This is more like "port arms". The Viking version of "At Ease" would involve a tankard of mead and a buxom blonde, lol.
Wow thats a loooong mane there Frodo, and with the regalia looks just amazing. Great pics!
Dave
Thanks, Dave. Nice to hear from you again.
Thanks
beautiful hair!
Thanks :D
I'd say your hair length shows rather well for a front pic.It certainly is really long and looks in great shape.Your beard looks really good too and at least you got a picture of it before the cut.So I'd sort of call this an update with interesting Viking garb for character:)Cheers
Mark
Thanks, Mark
Viking getup either invokes opera music, or metal bands; I guess because both like using Norse Mythology as a source. Somebody's warbling about Odin somewhere....
I find it interesting that many of these historical re-enactment groups pretty much require long-hair; short-haired freaky people need not apply (unless you don a wig or extensions). With that mane, with just a change of clothes, you could be in just about anytime or place; buzzcut guys just don't have the luxury... Further proof that until about 150 years ago, long hair for men WAS the norm.
Well, there's no actual requirement for hair to match the historical persona, for men or women. On the other hand, the Society does have a significantly larger percentage of longhairs than general society at large.
I love it!
The look goes so well with the long hair and the beard. Great photos Jim.
- Oren
Thanks :D
TERRIFIC pics there, Jim -- and the length and wonderful condition of your mane is very inspiring!!!
Hey, to my eyes you could definitely pass for a Viking (and not even "sort of" a Viking - LOL)....
Thanks for the great update!

Thanks, Ken :D
Hi JSFrodo,
Thank you for posting these photos, and your hair is a true inspiration to all of us. You have achieved an amazing length, and I am sure you will achieve several more iches of growth. That is such a cool hobby, and a great way to spend your spare time.
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks, David. Yeah, I enjoy seeing the look on people's faces when they ask what I do in my spare time and I say "Sail around in a Viking longship". Or the double-takes we get when a bunch of us stop for a meal on the way to/from an event in garb. Even better than the sidelong looks we longhairs sometimes get.

Your hair and beard look super in that first photo. Your hair appears to be classic length. It is hard to tell from that viewing angle.
They sure did a chop job on your beard. It looked perfect in that earlier photo.
Scott
Well, it's long enough for me to start sitting on the ends a bit. As for the beard, yeah they chopped it a bit, but it will grow back before long, so it's all good.
Hair length looks great. Didn't know how long your hair had gotten. Thanks for the update.
Thanks, Garth
Great looking hair, but where can I get one of those axes. I want one to go with my Tomahawk.
Thanks. Not sure where you'd find one of those axes, that one was borrowed from the man behind the camera.
Cool Pics Frodo,
I admire your length and hope to achieve it someday. You should think about getting pics of yourself done proffesionably. I once new of a couple that were into Rennassaince Reanactment and they had a fabulous pic done that had great lighting and sets. Thanks for sharing !

Thanks. I'll have to give your suggestion some thought, although having dropped almost $1,000 on van repairs this week, it won't be anytime soon.
