Hi dudes,
well, my mane is still growing and I'm starting to get comfortable with it. I started doing Karate lately after not being in any martial arts for the last 11 years, well. Something lately also happened that made me some kind of feeling good.
Whatever, here's my march update after 10 days without a wash.
Regards
You have really cool hair. The longest mine has been was waist length. I don't know, if I could handle it longer than waist, but your hair looks great.
Darrin
Hey Dusk what an awesome mane and fantastic length:) There is something to be said having hair past your waist.I would personally love mine to reach such proportions.Anyway it looks really good on you my friend!Cheers

Hi Dusk,
Hope all is well with you :-)
Thanks for the amazing update and you hair is looking great and even longer now and another milestone past. Keeping it growing and hoping you are enjoying the karate. I tooik up Judo as a kid and really enjoyed it.
Cheers,

Beautiful. Great length and fullness. Here's wishing you many, many, many more years of continued growth.
Very nice!
WOW! your hair is amazing--I can't imagine how long it took to grow it that long!My full length is just at shoulder length with the exception of the front which is just beyond chin level...Why is it that the front of the hair takes so much longer to grow than the back? Or just simply seems that way.
Hi Dee,
Remember that hair grows from different positions on your head, so the hairs at the bottom of your head (near your neck) will hit your shoulders first. This creates natural layers that will form a "v" shape once grown out long enough.
Assuming you started from an even length all around, most of your individual hairs will be around the same length. Try comparing the longest strands from the front with the longest in the back and you'll see this for yourself.
Great looking hair, by the way!

THanks Dan! I always wondered about that and u just answered my question! Yea my hair has been growing out since last April-which I decided to get a trim and the dumbass did not know what a trim was and gave me layers too which I didn't want-so my hair is actually growing out the layers---And before I got the trim it was pretty much one length including the front--But she totally screwed it up--I was so upset--now I just trim it myself and do a better job too! lol..Also I am amazed how much money a man can save by not cutting his hair---My brother keeps a crew-cut and gets it cut every two- weeks which cost him 15 bucks each time and that is a cheap going rate...(This pic shows my layer growing stage--took forever-still have more layers to grow out..
Yeah, trimming it yourself is definitely the way to go. I have not trimmed my hair yet even after more than 2 years of growth as I rarely find split ends. If I do, I just take care of them individually. When it gets a bit longer I may attempt a self-trim on the ends.
You're absolutely right about the monetary savings from not getting regular haircuts. I estimate that even taking into account increased shampoo/conditioner usage, I've saved at least $500. I consider further the fact that I've only shaved with an electric razor (in lieu of cartridge razors) for all of my life and have easily saved at least $1000. I'm only 25; I can't imagine how much it would be for folks twice my age. Plus I've been experimenting with growing a beard recently so it will be a non-issue anyway.
Best of luck,
-Dan H.
It's pictures like these, and experiences of going in for trims to get rid of split ends, that have inspired me to start self trimming. I've been growing for 3 years, but between just 2 trims to get rid of split ends, after 22 and 15 months respectively, my hair is a full half foot shorter than it could be. Heck, even in the last haircut I was left with a ton of split ends regardless because the girl just cut a lot of length off the back and didn't touch the front (I didn't specify one thing or the other, just asked for the split ends to go). At $35 a cut, plus tip, I'm not doing that again. My hair is long enough to self trim anyway, so that's what I'm doing from now on as well!
Dee, I started from bald to all one length im at 23 months, this photo is at 22 months maybe a little earlier. James Tampa,fl
Looks great Dee - your hair appears to be rather fine in texture. Mine is similar.
- Oren
Thx Oren!
yea it's texture is fine and wavy---when it's raining it usually gets pretty wavy--In the pic i just trimmed it and brushed it so it looks pretty straight---but doesn't stay like that unless I carry a brush with me 24-7 lol...BTW I liked your hair progression page-very nicely done! I should do something like that-I have plenty of pics that i took while my hair was growing..
Look at LittleBirdlongHair.com if you want to see monthly progression photos. James
High!
WOW!!! Now grow a moustache - and you'll be an (almost) perfect Swamp Gypsy!
See you in Khyberspace!
Yadgar
Looking just great Dusk!
I am washing my hair about once a week - this works optimal for me.
The long length seems to allow natural oil to spread without concentrating and becoming "greasy".
- Oren
Hey there Oren, with your weekly wash, do you use shampoo and conditioner or just one or the other? For years I only used conditioner as shampoo made my scalp itch but I now use T-Gel (medicated shampoo) and conditioner once a week and it works very well so far.
cheers Dave
Hi Dave,
I do a shampoo and condition. I use a variety of shampoos/conditioners some "natural" health food store brands, and the "Mane 'n Tail" shampoo and conditioner. Nothing expensive or fancy.
When done, a few drops of the Jojoba oil on my fingertips when I finger-comb my hair and beard for the first time after they have dried.

Your hair looks fantastic, Dusk. It appears that you are good for still more length.
Infrequent washing works well for you.
Great update.
Scott
Looks tough Dusk! \m/
When you go that long without washings, do you find it easier to detangle your hair than it is, say, if you wash twice a week tops?
Hi Dusk,
Thank you for sharing this truly inspirational update. With your hair's thickness and condition, you should be able to grow it quite a bit longer before hitting terminal.
Keep it growing,
David
Amazing hair Dusk, I have been witness to your progress for years now and you have a truly cool mane. One day we may see your face too!
Cheers Dave
