Well, D-Day was Feb 5, 2011. Here we are about a month and half later. As some of you may recall, I had to get a buzz cut due to severe heat damage from using the blow dryer and straightening iron on high heat. My dumb ass knew better, but always thought "no way! it wont ever happen to me." Well, it did. My hair was so damaged it was falling out in clumps. When I first buzzed my head I had crazy looking bald patches all over the top of my head. Needless to say, I was freaking out big time over it. Well, a month and a half later, I'm pleased to report that the bald patches are about 80% - 85% re-grown and there is enough length on top now that you cant really tell there is a problem unless you are looking for it. The dermatologist assures me that I will be 100% within 3-4 months, as my baldness was mechanical and not medical (if that makes sense). I really did a number not just on my hair but my scalp as well with all the high heat straightening and I am begging you all not to use those evil things on your hair EVER!! Anyways, here is a pic of me today. I'm pretty proud at how long my hair has gotten in just a month and a half. Keep in mind that my hair was buzzed with #2 clippers. I will also post a photo of what my hair looked like prior to all the damage so you can see what I am trying to return to.
And here is my hair prior to all the damage and obviously before the buzz cut. One day I will return to my former glory! :)
Hopefully soon - I rather know which is preferable!
Hi Element,
It never ceases to amaze me how hair can really change the appearance of a person to the point you almost don't even recognize someone after a big change such as yours. If I had seen you the day before with the longhair and saw you the next day with the way it is now I probably wouldn't even know it was you.Your story is good just as a lesson to up and coming longhairs as what NOT to do to your hair during the growing out process.Even after you reach your goal what NOT to do also.lol.Anyway I wish you luck on the new journey and do keep us updated on your progress.Cheers
Mark
Ah! The benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing. Still, you're back on track - good luck. Keep it natural, keep it long and keep the faith!
Best Wishes
Ian
Quite an adventure, you've had.
I must say though, that almost always I prefer the look of long hair. However, in your case, take some solice in the fact that you look very hip and 15 years younger with your hair short.
Thanks for the compliment, Benny. I never thought I would say this...but I dont hate having short hair. After 5 years of long hair, the change really isnt so bad. Its alot easier to take care of and doesnt get in the way during karate training now. Plus, I have gotten many compliments from attractive women since cutting it. Yet, I just dont feel like myself without my "world famous" ponytail. LOL
Good luck with your new hair journey Element, thats good growth for a month and a half. Be sure to keep us updated.
Cheers Dave
