hair gloves
I'm looking at the site now. I'm starting to want one. You recommend them? My concern is whether is will stay in place, or if it will make my hair feel heavy?
Yes i recomend them, and you wont even know there there, there very light. You put your hair back like normal, and there a single plastic clip, then you wrap around your hair and simple snaps hold it in place. my tail is only midback so i like to only use a 4" so i have some more hair coming out after then i use another hair band near the end of the tail and i wear it all day.If you have a harley dealer near you they sell them , but you know your going to pay alot more because of the brand name. You can also get them on ebay, just put in hairglove for your search. good luck buddy, James Tampa,Fl
Thanks for the tip, both of you. I braid my hair for work and due to the method I use, it hangs to the right instead of down my back. Esthetheticly speaking it looks O.K. but when you lean over it falls forward over my shoulder and into my working area. I don't want the string of ties look and this looks like it will keep it falling down my spine and out of the way. As for the beard (see picture), I tie the ends together behind my neck to keep them out of harms way. It wouldn't do to get it caught in the machinery I have use. It would be like the stories you hear when someone's neck tie gets caught in equipment and it winds him into the spinning jaws of death.
I regret to say that I think it looks damn ugly - one tie should surly be enough to control your tail. If doing physical work then surely an Alice band or bandanna works better?
Regarding the appearance you are, of course, entitled to your opinion. However, regarding the utility, whether a single hair-tie is sufficient depends on your situation (i.e, how long your hair is and what you're doing). For me, a single tie works fine for keeping my hair out of my way when I'm working at my desk. On the other hand, one tie (or an alice band/bandanna) does a lousy job of keeping the tail out of my way when I'm working outdoors, such as yardwork or car maintenance, especially when it's windy. My hair is somewhere around three feet long, and any decent breeze will have individual strands going all over. If I need to lean over, like while working on my car, or climb under the car, the loose tail gets in the way a lot. In these situations more restraint is called for. In my case, I generally use braiding or multiple ties (segmented tail) to keep it under control, but one or more of the "hair gloves" would achieve a similar effect. And in those situations, appearance is not my primary concern, keeping it out of the way is the main thing.
The other major use for them is for bikers, so the airflow from riding doesn't turn your tail into a horribly snarled mess.

I recently purchased 2 of these from a vendor called Hair Gloves from Hawaii. Got a 4" and a 8" black leather and they are very comfortable. You can were them with the snaps up (and showing) or down (not showing). Thinking of getting a 2" and a 12" for different looks, as well as something new called a hair twister which is a spiral that attaches to your ponytail tie just like a hair glove, but your tail would wrap down and around it. I never could master braiding my own hair so the hair gloves are a great alternative when you need to control tangling or just want a different look. There are many different designs (many unisex) for those who want to be more flashy.
Wow didn't realize there was another long hair from Tampa-contact me at crazyage55@yahoo.com
I looked at the web site, and they look very interesting! The only thing that kinda bugged me is that, by the available designs and colors, it's obviously being marketed to women. The black ones are nice, but most of the others are in shades of pink or other pastels, or are embossed with images of butterflies, hearts, or flowers. There are a few manlier designs, but not many.
I also wonder if my tail would be thick enough to fill it out. Being in my mid-40s, my hair isn't as thick as it used to be. :(
That being said, I'd give one a try, just to have an alternative to normal ponytails or braiding. Thanx for bringing this here, James!
I agree that most styles are for women only. I have a couple of the solid black leather that is more unisex. The wolf head style is interesting. To start, I think just the black leather is your best bet. They clip on to a ponytail band so your mane's thickness really is not too much of an issue.
