Today I heard the worst story. A buddy of mine told me that a doctor said his hairloss could be a result of hair gel he has used in the past. I'm super paranoid about that and it is really making me want to stop using hair gel and non-natural products alltogether.
I use hair gel to tame my hair during the work day. But I'm thinking I may try to use coconut oil in replace of it. Is there anybody else that does this?? My hair is about 6 inches long so I'm in the thick of the awkward phase, and not to mention my hair is very wavy and curly in the lower back part of it.
Does coconut oil make your forehead look greasy and come off on your clothes when you wear it all day? (like, for instance, the collar if it touches it)
Looking for that natural alternative to taming my awkard phase!!!
I use coconut oil as a conditioner, scalp treatment, deep conditioning treatment, and skin moisturizer. It's never stained or come off onto my shirt, and I absolutely love it. I swear by the stuff, and recommend it to everyone.
Coconut oil works, but it takes some trial and error to figure out the correct amount to apply. It's easy to apply too much which will end up looking a bit greasy. I've been using it for about 6 months and I still have days where I end up too oiled for my liking. I'm not trying to discourage you from using it -- it does work -- however you can't just slop it on like some other hair products and expect good results.

I couldn't agree more. Less is more when it comes to coconut oil. Try a tiny bit, and if that's not enough, add a tiny bit more esch time after until you have it right.

Coconut oil is the cats pajamas.
I don't use any product in my hair and also use vatika or parachute coconut hair oil as a conditioner etc..(cheap at Indian grocery stores).
Coconut oil makes my hair strong and shiny and can finger comb to a lot of different styles.
If you happen to over do it, just take a small amount of baby powder, rub it into your hands and comb you hair with a wide tooth wooden comb...this really works...truly...
Keep growing and when my hair was at the awkward phase I had everyone telling me to cut it, now that it is collar bone length no one says a word and women tell me my hair if beautiful.
