  I can tie my hair- but not all of it. If I let it down its chin length at front and shoulder at back. So how much longer will it have to go until I can tie it? If I make the tail high enough, all of it will actually tie but I dont like the high tail look. I want a tail at the bottom of the hair line. The hairs taht dont tie are the ones above the ears, and the bangs. I am considering an undercut to get rid of the hairs above the ears as these seem short and probably will not grow.

  So my bangs are chin length, how much longer do they need to be until they can be tied into the tail?

    I am at this for a little over a year and a half. When I was at the stage you describe, I could wear the kind of tale you describe by using a little (little is what I mean) gel or spray to hold those side hairs in place. They will keep growing. I wouldn't cut them. Now, they all hold in place. Sometimes I still use a very little gel to make sure those edges don't come loose if I am dressed up for a formal occassion.
