The first full-length theatrical trailer for this summer's upcoming "Conan the Barbarian" is now available for online viewing. I remain quite optimistic, thus far...
Full-length Conan trailer
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! must see!!!!!! this and Thor are two good long hair movies this summer! :)
The actor who plays Thor has beautiful long blond hair. Can't say I'm a fan of Conan films. Have a great day guys. Tom
Actually, that's not Chris Hemsworth's hair, it was a semi-permanent attached wig that he wore during filming. His real hair isn't even that color. Saw an interview where he mentioned that, and stated that his girlfriend absolutely loved it; and due to her raving about how he looked, he's thinking of growing his hair, for real. Yay for the girlfriend, if he does.
But a lot of that decision will depend on the film roles he accepts. It is much easier to use wigs and extensions (Jacob Black played by Taylor Lautner in the Twilight Saga, hair extensions were used) to create long hair, than to turn a man with long hair into one with short hair. Actors who typically have long hair, cut theirs for roles requiring short hair, then grow it back.
Actor David Krumholtz did this towards the end of the last season of the TV show Numb3rs. He took a film role that required shorter hair(A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas). Apparently he has been growing it back since filming wrapped up. I hated the shorter do, so seeing more recent pics of him apparently gaining length is encouraging, because Krumholtz just looks so much better with the long curls.
Sadly, Hollywood does not favor nor encourage actors to have long hair, and when roles require it, they make use of wigs and extensions to temporarily create that look. Let's hope Chris Hemsworth joins the rare few that have long hair, especially if his apparently longhaired loving girlfriend has any influence in him growing and keeping it. ;)
I was just about to post something about this. It's good to see an actual trailer and not just a teaser. I'm optimistic about this too. Hopefully it will do well enough at the box office to warrant more Conan films. I'd love to see an actual adaptation of one of the Robert E. Howard stories. Have you had a chance to read the Conan graphic novels released by Dark Horse? They are graphic novel adaptations of the Robert E. Howard stories and are really awesome.
I've seen some previews of the DH graphic novels, but haven't read them yet... thanks for the recommendation! It would be great to see a faithful film adaptation of the source material. Actually, there was an animated feature film adaptation of "Red Nails" made a few years ago, but for some reason it's never been released. This would be an excellent choice for a live action movie, as well.
Here's the website for the animated film, "Red Nails." Looks like they did a decent job with this... waiting for it's actual release for the past several years has been pretty frustrating.
Conan: Red Nails
UGH! I've been waiting for Red Nails for a long time too. I don't know if it will ever see the light of day at this rate. They keep setting up a release date and then pushing it back. It would be awesome to finally see a feature length film adaptation of a original REH story. I'm hoping they'll release it along with the new Conan movie. I'm also hoping for a Blu-Ray release of the first two Conan movies with Arnold.
