Greetings All,
Nice to hear stories here about others taking pride in long hair. Back in September of last year I decided to grow my hair out because I really felt like doing something for me new and different that I could be proud of. I am 27. Also I was facing some medical issues at the time which made me think if I do not grow my hair out now, I may never have the chance. Its just like that song "It's my life." The lyric, "its now or never, I aint gonna live forever. I just wanna live while I'm alive" really hit home. So here I am and I now have over five inches of hair when a year ago I had less than one. I can't wait until its 15 inches and more. So many wonderful new experiences like having my hair blowing in the wind for the first time in my life.
Regards,
Marcus Knight

Looking good Marcus! It's a very pleasant thing to discover the joys and satisfaction of having long hair. I'm glad you didn't wait any longer. I was 34 when I began growing mine long for good.
Marcus your hair looks great, it frames a very handsome face.
You look great with long hair, looking forward to seeing it shpulder length or longer on you.

Marcus, your hair looks in great condition, I see the awkward stage is just kicking in. Stick in there, I assure you, every month brings more enjoyment as you continue the journey :)

Thanks Guys. What do you all think of Neck Hair? Should I let it alone or take it off? It only seems to grow about one inch long at the most and just stays there getting in the way some times.
Looking good so far! In regards to neck hair I wouldn't worry about it until/if you decide to start tying it back in a ponytail when it gets longer. It also depends on how thick it is, some guys can get away without ever trimming back there and still look good but in my case I cannot tie my hair back without trimming the neck hair because it is very thick and bushy and just looks bad on me (though it's not noticeable if hair is kept loose). If you do decide to trim in the back then you might consider getting someone you trust to help you, you can do it yourself but just make sure you're very very careful not to cut into your actual hairline (I lost a few long hairs the first time I shaved back there, thankfully only a few, though it was enough to scare me into extreme caution).
My suggestion is that you dont cut any hair until its at least 3 feet long, Thats what im shooting for. James
Hi Marcus,
Cheers to you for your decision to grow your hair out, and you have an excellent head of hair to work with. I had relatively long hair(shorter than now, though) from when I was around 19 or so, then had it short for a few years, from 2000 to early 2004. Since then, I have grown it long again, and am now 57, going on 58, and never plan to have it short again.
I look forward to folllowing your future progress!
Keep it growing,
David
