I took my wife and eldest son to see this last night. The film was OUTSTANDING... now I know how the Christians felt when they saw "The Passion." The 3D? Not so much. This was the first and last time I'll pay to see a movie in 3D. Seems like a lot of hype over a distracting gimmick. I can't wait for this to come out on DVD!
Score one for longhaired superheroes!

Some fellow SCA friends went to see Thor in a drive-in last night. One posted on Facebook about a scene where Thor's fellow Asgardians show up on Earth, and one of the SHIELD agents says, "Is there a ren faire in town?" She commented that, "No, it's an SCA fighter practice". Apparently she said it a little louder than she intended, as the people in the next car started laughing.
Another friend from the same group posted that she knows she's a history geek, because one of her favorite moments in the movie came from realizing that the Viking women in one scene were wearing historically accurate Norse dresses.

I just saw it too. I saw in in 2D though. I read a review before hand that said it actually looked better in 2D, which is why I went to the 2D. I thought it was awesome. Chris Hemsworth really did a great job as Thor.

Val,
Could'nt agree more with you about the 3D comment. I never did like it myself. I think this effect is a way to get you to pay more at the box office.

I did see Avatar in 3D when it was in the theaters and thought it worked for that picture but possibly not every movie benefits from this technology. The main thing is that you all enjoyed the movie:)

The first time that I saw Avatar was in 3D, as well. I totally agree that only some movies work with the format, but it especially enhanced the film for me because of the surrealism that I felt while watching it! :D

Ive been looking forward to this one. Cant wait to see it. Looks like it may be a smidge more faithful to the books...i hope =p
Me and my girlfriend have been absolutely ecstatic about wanting to see it! I have a trip this weekend, but I think we may go the one thereafter! So very excited. :D
Absolutely fantastic, that it was a both a family and a religious experience, as well!
