Hello everyone
First of all, lemme give my thanks 'AnotherSchmoe' for helping me with the silly "wax in hair" issue I posted a few weeks back. His baking soda solution worked very well.
So, yea... 9 months.
Some positive experiences, and some less positive points.
Trying to fall into more or less of a 'hair care routine'. Not washing my hair everyday is a bit tricky, since my hair gets really oily really fast. So, trying to find a good compromise with Conditioner-only and water-only solutions... applying a bit of olive oil on it at least once a week.
Anyway, I'm still a bit worried about my hair being a bit on the thin side, and having the scalp peeking through where the hair parts...
Anything any of you guys might recommend? Maybe something I can try before going off to search the pharmacies for any solutions?
Everyone take care.
My hair gets really oily as well. I washed about every other day, but bought a more expensive brand of shampoo and conditioner, a marc anthony product and an after shower lotion as well, kept my hair looking and feeling nice.
Can't help with experience on the thinning hair, but if it were me I would look into buying a rogaine cream. i'd also suggest checking what you are eating and take up exercise if you aren't already :)
good luck
I can't help you on the thinning hair, but I will tell you that as your hair grows longer the oily problem will lessen. In fact, if my experience is typical, you'll likely have the opposite problem -- that of hair being overall too dry. My current routine is to rinse and condition daily and re-apply a light oil afterwards. I only shampoo about once a week or whenever I start feeling the build up of my natural oil weighing my hair down.
Good Luck!

Hey Gon,
Sorry to hear you're battling thinning hair. I was thinning badly up until November of last year when I buzzed my long hair off and started over on a new "hardcore" regimen over the new year. Check out this thread where I list my regimen and maybe it'll give you some ideas. My hair has turned completely around as you can see from the pics.

Good luck friend!

i agree with PhunkeyPhish on the statement about exercising and eating healthy, ever since i started a vegitarian diet(well like 90% veg lol i eat fish too) my hair has looked better and it grows really fast now,, and drink more water than anything else(humans should only drink water, or organic juices). and if you dont have time to workout atleast stretch in the mornings to get your blood flowing. remember more blood flow equals faster and stronger growing hair
Glad it worked out. :)
Anyway, in regards to the thinning I think we'd have to see an image to really be sure. It's perfectly normal to see your scalp where the hair parts on top. Even with very thick hair it's always easier to see the scalp on the top than on the sides because on the sides you have hair coming in from all over the place (growing from the sides and also being curtained from hair falling down from the top). Whereas on the top you just have whatever actually is sprouting from up top, and it will often be laying down flat exposing some sections of scalp where it parts.
That said, you may very well be experiencing thinning, I have no idea! Just trying to point out another possibility (sometimes we worry about things that are normal). :)
In the meantime though just do your best to stay away from junk and processed food, take a multivitamin, and drink lots of water (it's an acquired taste but it's all I really drink anymore, you learn to love it). Exercise is best too but that's an area I'm a bit lazy on myself. All of these things help contribute to a healthier body, which in turn contributes to healthier hair growth. Have a good one!
Thin(ning) hair isnt just a male issue and its a pain in the derrier.. I have exactly the same thing, very fine hair which gets greasy major fast. I try to wash only once a week and I've found lately it looks half decent up to 3 days after (it used to be 1 day!!) so maybe less is more. I've also discovered bandanas which hide the scalp also good if its raining! I'm used to get fed up with people saying 'have you been swimming?' they have no idea how that feels! I use baby shampoo and a conditioner on the ends (not the scalp) so it is improving slowly. Good luck!
