I have used both and found that as a pre shampoo Vatika works great.
I Massage it into my scalp & hair, leave it in my hair for a couple of hrs then shampoo and condition,(matrix).
I do this 1x to 2x per week and my hair is keeping its natural blond and is strong, soft and shiny.
Vatika is the cats meow and I sometimes use Parachute coconut oil if my hair gets a little dry.
This site is a plethora of knowledge and great people, glad I found this place... Thanks.
I haven't used Vatika, but I do use coconut oil occasionally. It definitely helps rehydrate dry hair, but I find it leaves a residue behind that I don't like (maybe it's a brand thing). I always end up washing it out after a few hours, so I only use it prior to showering now.
Hi, yes I use Vatika, massage into my scalp and leave in overnight, then shampoo out in the morning. I also use a little organic olive oil, just massaged in the palms and "fingered" through if my hair is a bit dry.
Best wishes. Ian
Personally I haven't used either of those and stick with Jojoba oil, and it works wonders. I don't have to worry about greasiness or washing it out later. I use this after my shower, instead of prior to and just leave it in my hair all day. I shampoo two or three times a week, condition everyday, and then apply jojoba oil. I tried olive oil once but didn't like the smell and residue that it left behind. Jojoba has a minute odor but is hardly noticeable, and with my conditioner you can't notice it at all. Also, what I have noticed is that even with me applying once or twice a day I do not notice residue. I obviously don't go overkill on the jojoba but I will apply it after a shower and sometimes a second time later in the day. I got this Jojoba oil at a Trader Joe's and this was over two months ago and I am still above half. Again I would recommend Jojoba oil for hydrating and keeping the hair soft and healthy. These benefits are all without the residue and odor.

I have not tried Jojoba because of the great success from Vatika.
When I was growing my hair out again, several Indian girl friends suggested I use this and I have not looked back.
Indian women have the best hair in the world, I am in awe...
Ian, Your hair looks incredible, Genetics and Vatia perhaps?
What other hair care routine do you use, and how old are you if you don't mind me asking.
Thank you, and 67 I'm afraid!
Cheers Ian

Everybody's hair and scalp is a little different -- so, what works for one person doesn't always work well for another...
Having just said the above, I tend to recommend oiling just the ends of the hair. For my own self, at least, my scalp can get oily enough on its own; so I've never felt the need to add any oil whatsoever into my scalp, or even the prtion of my hair close to the scalp -- just onto/into the lower half of my mane, especially the ends.
I've not tried the particular product that you mention here; but maybe I will along the way, someday soon...
My current favorite beneficial oil is just plain and simple olive oil -- my rule for what kind of quality oil to get is this: if it's pure enough to cook with, then it's good enough for my hair, too!
Other beneficial oils for the hair that I've tried and liked in the past include: Kukui Nut oil, Almond oil, and Jojoba oil. I also have used a product called, "Hair Milk", which is made by a company called "Carol's Daughter" I've found as a general rule to keep in mind is that the purer the ingredients, the better the result -- that's really all that matters.
