Yo, guys! How you guys doing? Everything going well? Hope so! Anyway, I just wanted to get some hair related thoughts out. This is kind of emberassing, but does anybody here know where I could find a step-by-step guide on how to make a basic bun? Or maybe a video? Any suggestions would be appreciated! I still have a lot to learn about being a longhair. Anyway, I think I'm doing pretty well. My hair is just below my shoulders right now, and I'm enjoying every second of it!
P.S. Did any of you guys see what I did with the title?
Check u tube there,s probably something on there or try Google.
good luck, James / Tampa,Fl
Hey Corvus,
On YouTube there is an amazing video by a mega-longhaired guy whose handle i think is "Longhairedmaneman" -- or something similar to that...
In the meantime, here is an old pic of me that I dragged up from our Archives section, back in the day when I posted by the name/handle, "Urban Cowboy"; but better yet, I can also easily describe how to make a simple bun by just my own bizarre way with words. Try following the Hairy Bun instructions, below:
HOW to MAKE a HAIRY BUN!
1) First, take your long hair and act as if you are going to tie it back into a typical ponytail';
2) Next, using both of your hands, twist your hair around and around, in whatever direction feels most natural to you, and try to make a hairy "tornado" (if you are unfamiliar with how tornadoes look, just rent the old Judy Garland movie, "The Wizard of Oz" - LOL)....
3) With one hand holding your hairy tornado, use the other hand to find a comfortable spot on the back of your head to center your future hairy bun to be located...
4) Twist your hair tornado tighter... no, I really mean TIGHTER (people from Kansas and other Midwestern states should have no problem with this - LOL)....
5) Now coil your hair tornado into the location where you wish to see an strange-looking cow-pie (again, people from the Midwest USA will know what I mean by the term, "cow-pie" -- for the rest of you, think: the swirl on top of an ice cream cone, but an ugly brown color, and without any cone underneath... and smelling like a barnyard)...
6) Carefully coil, then hold, coil, then hold, coil, then hold (mega-longhairs will get much more exhausted reading this if I truthfully added how many times they had to do this...);
7) Last but not least, have a hair-tie ready that you can double-over this coiled-up mess; then look in the mirror -- after crying, "wash - rinse - repeat" until you are proficient enough (or no longer feel humiliated enough) to walk out the door with confidence...
Happy hair-bunning!

Ken, funny funny stuff , I tip my hat to you sir!!! James / Tampa,Fl
Hahaha. Ken, you are a nut, though I mean that in the best way possible. :D
Love your decriptons, Having grown up in St. Louis., Mo. and the Ozarks, I have had to dodge a few tornadoes and the random cowpie. Not to mention 'Road Apples" but that is a whole 'nuther hair style.
Bun info -
The website details it, the video shows it, almost exactly what I do every day.

- John C Ps - it's extremely easy & easy on your hair. She does it in under a minute in the video, and I do it in under a minute too. No breakage from hair bands.
