I do shampoo my hair about every other day, I work outside alot and sweat like crazy. I condition every day. I don't think my hair is thinning but I'm almost 40 and want to keep if from happening. What can I use to make sure that it's growing healthy and to help prevent thinning? I was thinking about coconut oil and/or aloe Vera. Should I use both or something else?
Hi Mike, You mention coconut oil, I use Vatika and fin it very good. I only use shampoo once a week, and wash with tepid water in between with the odd conditioner.
If you have the gene for mail pattern baldness, there's not much you can do about it. Just hope it doesn't get too thin. It varies from person to person.
You could try Rogain, but I understand that once you start using the stuff, you can't quit, and it ain't cheap.
Yeah, Regaine isn't cheap, but is known to work well though (it worked for me as well). You use it once in the morning, once in the evening and it takes less than a minute to use the product.
However:
- You will go through a shedding phase, which can last for quite a long time (you will lose more hair than usual, and new hair will start growing instead). For me that shedding phase lasted for about 8-10 months (yes, that's a long time - and I seriously thought the product was crap when this was happening).
You do not become bold during that phase, but you basically lose a lot of hair (I had long hair already, so I could see a lot of hair falling. To give you an idea, once rolled in a "ball", it was the size of the last bone of my pinkie if not more).
I am now experiencing regrowth, and I just lose my normal 100 hair a day - but it takes a while and a lot of patience to go through this phase.
- The earlier you use it to fight Male Pattern Boldness the more efficient it is. If you use it later it is still supposed to work and it can at least stop the hairloss (if it does not help regrowing them).
- I can now see new hair growing, a lot of small blond hair and a few "thick brown" hair (I have very fragile and thin blonde hair, so I certainly notice these brown hair - but they are definitely not the "thin" hair I used to have). I know these are all new hair due to the product as they are growing in areas where I never had hair for a few years.
- If you stop using the product, your hair will remain in their current state, but the hairloss will resume (there won't be any sudden fall of hair, they will fall at the same pace as before).
Also, you can use a shampoo with a base of "nizoral" to limit hairloss.
I have experienced hair regrowth using only these two: nizoral + regaine.
I used to be a bit like the picture "III Vertex": http://www.ishrs.org/images/male-baldness.gif" and I am 28 yrs old, my hair loss/thinning started 3-4 yrs ago. I am now seeing hair (0.1cm to 1cm) in these areas, and hope they will continue to grow.
Here is a pic Its not really thinning to much. The front is just everywhere lol.
I feel you should not condition everyday. Conditioner will make it lank and greasy.
Thinning is not just a MPB thing, it is a part of the overall aging process, plus an effect of nutrition, or lack thereof. Sometimes you need to supplement your diet, to give your body a little 'help'. Hair can benefit from supplementation of various kinds; Omega 3 fatty acids, MSM (sulfur compound), Lecithin. All good for your joints as well, as they contribute to cartilage and keratin health. Keratin is what builds hair and nails. MSM is used by many MLHH members, and is fairly inexpensive. You can buy it as a loose powder, or formed in capsules or caplets. Some MLHH members have reported positive results from using Saw Palmetto, a natural DHT inhibitor. DHT is what cause MPB. If you are concerned about overall thinness due to MPB, plus strand thinness die to age; Saw Palmetto and MSM are the ones to address those problems.
