I decided about 6 weeks ago to grow my hair out. Right now its the longest it's ever been, but still not all that long. Probably 3-4 inches.
Its very thick and wavy but i'm getting worried because every morning I have to brush it to get my bangs out of my eyes and I ended up pulling out a bunch of hairs. It may just be that i'm noticing it more now as I grow out but I am getting worried that in 2 years(which is my growth goal) it will have all fallen out.
Everyone sheds approximately 100 hairs per day. You do tend to notice it more as your hair gets longer. Unfortunately, there's no way to know if this is what you're seeing, or if you are seeing signs of male pattern baldness without seeing a doctor.
If you're worried about your hair failing out, you might want to get them a tutor. Seriously people, at least proofread your subjects!
LOL, amen brother.

I can see that if you are a buzzed cut type of guy your hair definitely would be failing bigtime however there are some magnificent longhairs here that I'd say have a "Masters Degree" in hairfarming:) I wish you the very best educating your hair;) Cheers

Yes Mark, the buzzed cuts will be failing and be miles away from achieving their full potential. Cases of severely retarded hair growth cut down early! Ha ha !
Duncan
Yes Duncan, the buzzards definately need a crash course in Mopology if they are going to have any chance at being a longhair. However I do have faith that more intelligent hair will roam this planet:) LOL.Cheers

Danny,
Just like Strongbear said, "100 hairs a day". You just never noticed it with short hair, plus your in the akward phase so brushing seems to be the best thing for calming it down. Try finger colbing more. Less stress on the hair.
Glinka
Just stop wining and grow your hair and dont get a haircut for at least 2-3 years. thats all
I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. It's normal to loose about 100 hairs on a normal day, and hair does go through periods where a larger shed rate is normal. You've probably been loosing the same amount of hair all along, but as the length increases it's just more noticeable. While it is possible that you may eventually suffer from one of the forms of male pattern baldness, there is no good way of telling until it happens. Most guys with more extreme hair loss start seeing noticeable thinning at a quite early age. For those who suffer from less extreme loss there are treatments available, many of which have been discussed recently, just look through the topics of the last couple months. But rather than worry about something that may never happen, why don't you try to enjoy the experience while you can? :-) Good luck!
