I've always been lazy about cutting my hair (I usually cut it really short) and am overdue a haircut by about 2 months, but I started toying with the idea of growing it long and have decided to give it a go. The only problem is that when my hair gets longish it sticks out at the sides. Is there any way to minimise the bush look without making it too obvious that you're trying to control it? How long does it need to be before it can be brought somewhat undercontrol? It's almost three inches at the sides and is about 3 and a half inches on top.
Was having a look at the reasons why people decided to grow their hair long - my reason's a bit strange. I was thinking about how I would look with it long a couple of nights ago, but not really considering it (it was cause I was thinking about how much it needed cutting). That night I had a dream that I did have long hair - I could see it and feel it. It was weird but I really liked it, so I've decided to go ahead with it.

Hey man, the bushy problem when it gets longer is the same problem I have had for years and is the reason why I get so far growing it long and then end up cutting it. I am now on my determined attempt that I am going to definetly have long hair down past mid back if it kills me no matter how bushy it get's. The thing I find is best for me is to shampoo wash it only once a week, but rinse wash it with warm water through the week while trying not to rid it of it's natural oils. I also use what has been around for some time now called "Alberto V05 Conditioning Hairdressing" It comes in a tube like Preperation H. You can get it at Wal-Mart in the Health And Beauty Section. You squeeze a little or however much you feel you need into your hand and run it all through your hair. It moistines your hair laying it down and leaves it managable. Go for it , man, and no matter how bad it seems, just be patient through the awkward stages of growth, which is where I am at now. In Christ and God Bless!!!!!
After it gets longer it will stop doing that, you just need to wait it out. It will be worth looking shitty for six months or so, because it will look how you want it forever after that (unless you cut it)
