are there lots of guys with long hair in the New York area including New Jersey and Philadelphia?
what types of experiences have you had if any within the past several months? years?
are people generally more open to longer hair on guys or less open?
I've found them very receptive to guys with long hair, especially
at science fiction conventions.
(you'll find lots of guys with long at science fiction conventions.)
I'm from Jersey and can say I do see many guys with longhair on an almost daily basis.I like going into "the city", being NYC often and see many there easily. As much as I'm tired of living in Jersey I do feel longhairs are accepted here:)Cheers

What part of Jersey? I'm in North Jersey.
Hi Rich,
I'm from Central NJ above the Raritan River.
Somerset by any chance?

I'm not from Somerset but around a half hour drive from there.Don't tell me I have a double there.LOL!
Hey guys! I'm from northern nj 30 mins from Manhattan on the NJ Transit Train.
Ha ha, I just took that train into Manhattan yesterday for an afternoon trip into the city.My ride is around 30 to 40 minutes depending how speedy the engineer happens to be:)It was a really nice day there and even did some shopping;)

I notice them a lot more now that I have long hair, that's for sure. I have the longest hair out of all the guys I work with in my building (even some girls too). There are a few guys at work in total who have really long hair, and I occasionally see a long hair or two when I'm out running errands.
== Im from the Hudson Valley Area, NY==
Seems I see more older than younger. Like up near New Paltz and Woodstock areas , well that is where one of the places the " Hippies " kinda started, maybe thats why. Either young Teenish or older with full gray , but not may in between, like me. Unless you go to NYC like Hairball said.
Well unfortunatlly my experience is of to few and far between.
Allthough now people seem more accepting of, at least, my hair now that Im older, 42, and dont even mention it as when I was younger.

In my particular neighborhood in Fresh Meadows, Queens County (outer-boroughs part of NYC), long haired men seem to still be discriminated against socially (but not vocationally). It's odd how people in Fresh Meadows are tolerant of ideas that are super liberal (ideas that are needless and utterly stupid), yet at the same time are more intolerant of ideas like men wearing long hair. Bottom line is people in this part of town aren't the thinking sort, they just follow the leader, do whatever is in vogue and follow the trail of money rather than principle and personal intergrity. This is what you get when you live in a community that is not centered on Christian values but instead embraces an ethos of liberalism as its motto. What you get is a messed up community.

Hey man Hello!
I live in NJ and work in NYC- for the most part I haven't gotten any trouble except for the occasional dirty look...NYC I think is more accepting about being different and I usually get the question if I'm in a rock band or if I'm a musician....But when I walk into a bar with my hair down I get noticed right away and get a drink before any of my friends lol....When I had short hair I pretty much blended in with everyone else...I also get the one if I know where to buy weed or coke lol...
