Hey guys,
I'm sort of confused about the application of shampoo, when showering. Folks say to place it at one's roots when washing it, yet I find it sort of difficult to do so, with the longish hair that I have.
Does anyone have any useful advice?

Near the roots...unless you are getting into really dirty situations or use a lot of products, most of your length isn't going to be very dirty...shampoo is mostly for stripping the oils off your scalp and the shampoo that runs down your hair is plenty to keep it clean. You can also dilute shampoo so it soaks into your hair and reaches the scalp more easily.
Now i've noticed with my hair if i go more than two days
that my hair gets oily (greasy?).
So after two days (48 hours) it starts to look cruddy.
And no i don't work in a particularly dirty environment.
I mainly wash my hair with conditioner.
I part my hair down the middle with my fingers, face the shower, bring the hair forward in front of me & lean forward. I use a bar of castille soap, so I rub it around on the part, back to front, then push it up around the hairline from underneath, while leaning forward more. Then I rub my fingers up through the hair from the hairline by my ears, reach through my hair to the part, and rub it in. I take my hands out and rub it into the part some more. I get it all into my scalp eventually, and thoroughly massage the scalp. When I'm done, I run my hands down the hair to begin combing it out with my fingers, pulling the hair down and straightening it, letting my fingers go through it form bottom to top, with the soap still on to lubricate it. That continues with water, then coconut oil, then combing.
