Greetings,
It's Andrew here, and I've been growing my hair for 10 years now. yeah, it is a long time.
BUT
What pisses me off the most about my hair is this: my hair type is the half-curl of say, an ancient grecian statue's, and because I don't comb through it (bad habit, developed over time), the length is severely less than what it could be. That is what probably frustrates me most, is my own lack of care for it.
My question for the fellow members board who have had this type of problems is this: how do you guys usually find time to pull the 'kinks' out, separate each damn hair, and comb through it with conditioner... It takes a long time to do so without of course 'snapping' and breaking hairs!
Thanks for the help.
Andrew
Hey Andrew,
I have exactly the same issue as you. I also happen to have been growing my hair for the last 10 years. It is just a matter of patience really. Gently pulling apart the curls is something I do habitually over the day, I probably look a bit girly doing it, but I've never gotten any complaints :) To be honest because my hair is curly, I've given up on trying to get my hair to look "long", it's a bit annoying but I'd rather have what I've got than a buzz cut!
Take care,
Neil.
Shawshank,
as Neil has said, you've got to have patience. You won't really be able to have hair that's well taken care of unless you routinely comb through it. You may feel foolish or have trouble getting into a habit of doing so, but once you do, it becomes very natural and even therapeutic. If you comb it regularly enough, then it likely won't become as tangled as you have said. Good luck, whatever you do! : )

The trick with curly hair is to only comb it in the shower with a lot of conditioner. After that you let it air dry and don't touch it! It will form nice spirals instead of a tangled mess. You will still have tangles but a lot less and in the shower with conditioner it will be easy to get them out.
I've got wavy hair and only comb it once a week in the shower with conditioner and I've got very good results.
