Sorry that the pic is terrible but all I have atm is an awful webcam. My hair started to get a bit longer than usual but I really hadn't thought about it any and now I decided i'm going to let it grow for at least the next year. I'm only 20 years old but now i'm starting to worry a bit because every night I brush through it once and I lose a ton of hairs. Same every morning. It's pretty thick right now though I just pray it stays that way.
Hi and welcome. Glad you've made your growing out decision. You have a good head of hair there to start you off and in a year, you should be able to see around 6" of growth. At 20, you shouldn't be too worried about shedding as it's normal to loose about 100 hairs a day. Good luck. Ian
I'm pretty sure i'm losing more than I should. One brush session with a comb from root to tip takes like 50 out and then I also see probably 10-15 loose ones throughout my head.
But i'm using some conditioner and shampoo that is supposed to help with that.
Obviously, your worried about you hair shedding, and that in turn can make it shed more. The best advice is to visit your doctor to make sure there is no underlying cause, then assuming it's just natural loss, treat your hair kindly - no heat, no chemicals etc., and hopefully you'll find that re-growth compensates for the loss. Good luck. Ian
Can't go to the doctor.
I am going to start taking a multivitamin though. I've read that it can help after about a month of use.
You may be overestimating how many hairs you are actually losing; when it is longer, it not only *looks* like more hair than when it is shorter, but you also notice it more.
Also, certain medical conditions and/or prescription medications can make your hair fall out, which is quite diconcerting.
I hope you can figure it out, and then be able to enjoy growing your hair. :)
Hello TheCryingOrc,
IanB is right about the shedding. When your hair does get longer shedding becomes very noticeable. For example, if I get a couple of my hairs and roll them into a ball between my fingers, I end up with a ball about the size of a small pea. Put short - it looks a lot worse than it actually is.
I imagine that given a couple of years of growth, you'd end up with some impressive looking long hair, thick and wavy. Very cool indeed :)
Keep us posted on how you do and take care,
Neil.
Hey TheCryingOrc,
Great head of hair, dude!
Don't worry about losing hair. We normally lose about 100 hairs a day. It's just that when your hair is longer it is more noticable. Biotin promotes hair growth.
Congrats on your decision to become a longhair, bro. Keep us posted on your progress.
