I have conflicting answers on this subject from Women.
Some tell me it is when your hair begins to touch your shoulders, others say it is when your hair is at the end of your shoulders.
Huh?
My hair measures from crown to the back 18" standing normally, longer in the back but at the bottom of my neck in the front.
Please Educate me.
Thanks.
The official definition of shoulder-length hair is thusly:
"When a person's hair is longer than neck-length but shorter than butt-length, then it is at or near or on or around the shoulders."
However, I doubt that this definition can be found in Webster's or even in Wikipedia. In fact, since I've never seen any such formal definition anywhere, I decided to make one up for you!
Did that answer your question?

What length would this be called?
Thanks...

as to how long shoulder length hair actually is. With a really long neck, shoulder length can be maybe 5 inches longer than for someone with a short neck. These two images (which I placed side by side) are somewhere in our archives. I don't remember the dates of these but are of our members.
The guy on the left has hair well past shoulder length, while the guy on the right has hair barely shoulder length. Both have hair about the same length.

YMMV. Typically people measure along the centerline of their bodies, AND they measure as they reach a body landmark...so I'd say that Shoulder Length would be when your hair reaches an imaginary line between the tops of your shoulders.
