I've seen posts on jojoba oil and coconut oil.
Do they leave the hair looking/feeling oil/greasy?
Do you use them with conditioner or as a replacement
for conditioner?.
I've been using jojoba for a couple weeks. My hair is naturally dry. My hair still needs alot of conditioner. Since jojoba, detangling is much easier and seems to lighten it and shine more.
Alot of it depends what kind of hair/scalp you have.
I use coconut oil as a replacement for conditioner. I heard a doctor on youtube say you shouldn't put anything on your skin you wouldn't eat, as anything on your skin goes into your body.
The first time I used it, I slathered a huge load of it on, left it in almost a week because I was working so much, and it seemed to soak mostly in. It looked a little greasy, but just felt very soft and salon like. It solidifies below 76 degrees, so was hard like a mousse sometimes. My friend in college had the same experience. He's from Hawaii, but never used the coconut oil that much. He said his scalp was very itchy one night on the phone with me, so I reccommended tea tree oil which he had already bought following my suggestion. He used alot of it, and the itching immediately went away for good, but he had alot of dandruff the next day, so I reccomended coconut oil, and he obediently slathered it on. We laughed about it, he was on the phone, said his hair was so flat & wet looking!! he said he'd leave it in till the morning, and the next day he called and said it all soaked in and his hair looked normal, but felt sooooooo good, AAANND the dandruff was all gone..... We were both amazed. It does seem to soak right in the first few times. You should read about coconut oil benefits. There's studies saying it can destroy herpes, which usually stays in your cells for life, and may be a cause of dementia.
I use jojoba oil after every wash and use it as a leave-in conditioner. If you use more than a couple of drops, it can leave your hair looking pretty greasy though, so don't overdo it.
I use cocounut oil now and again mainly on the ends of my hair.
