hello all
after reading some recent threads on here, i am wondering if it is necessary to do any more than shampoo and condition my hair for now?......it is only 6 weeks since shaved, but i dont want to neglect my hair in any way.....
Does my hair require any more attention at this stage of my journey?
Ps....a big thanks to everyone so far for your continued support.
Dont grow up...grow down instead!

Hey Scott,
Until you get about three (3) to four (4) inches of growth
- simply keep your hair clean.
- shampoo every other day; on the off days simply water wash
- stay away from scissors and razors.
Don't grow up, grow down instead.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Cheers dude!....good advice,
Hopefully this will optimise my hair growth in the future.
Scott
Hi Scott, Raymond is right, just concentrate on keeping your hait clean and healthy for the moment. Avoid as many chemicals as possible including those in some shampoos - keeping to the sulphate free variety can help. Enjoy the first growing period, once your hair gets longer, you may want to change your regime for your hair type to keep it looking good. Best wishes, Ian
thanks Ian
based on your advice i have managed to get hold of some organic virgin olive oil shampoo and conditioner, with only natural imgredients and no sulphates.
It was from holland and barret health foods, pricey but worth it i hope.
Cheers for the advice dude

Love this board...
1. Treat your hair like fine silk linnen as all long hair is dead hair, and don't abuse it, leave it be.
2. Vaitka coconut oil is the cats meow, (use it as a scalp massage 1-2x's per week using your finger tips only). It makes your hair strong.
3. Dont wash your hair too much as I only wash my hair 1X per week with shampoo and conditioner and use tepid water only in between if needed.
4. Let it go and let it grow and get yourself a wide tooth wooden comb and drink a lot of water and eat healthy, biotin and fish oil seems to work for me.
5. Stay away from all trims etc. and endure the awkward stage
and you will get there.
Hope this helps....
Thanks for the advice, manged to get some omega 3,6 and 9 oils to supplement my diet when needed,
great advice and i'll keep you updated.
Scott
Be careful which fish oil you choose. The FDA regulates foods and drugs, but not over-the-counter supplements (I know, go figure!). You need to make sure the fish oil supplements you take do not contain any heavy metals such as mercury. Heavy metal toxicity causes a variety of symptoms including confusion, lethargy, and hair loss, and can be quite difficult to treat. Also avoid any contaminated fish. Just Google "heavy metals/contaminants in fish/fish oil" or anything even remotely like that and a zillion websites will pop up. Fish oil can be good for you, but only if it is not contaminated. Omega 3-6-9 usually derives some of its ingredients from fish; the ingredient list on the bottle should specify what type of fish.
Thanks Laura, good advice and will make sure all of my sources are "safe" ones.
Cheers

I use a fish oil supplement made by "Nordic Naturals," purified and tested to be free of all heavy metals and other pollutants, and have been quite pleased with it.

Raymond's advice, below, is spot-on. Once you get 3 or 4 inches of hair growth, consider conditioning each time you shampoo.

I'll keep you all updated with progress.
