Howdy again everyone, long time lurker, but seldom poster here. It has been 3 years since I started this journey, and today was an interesting milestone for me. My first haircut in a long long time. I decided to go so long even without a trim because I was so afraid of reverting back to that mullet stage from a bad trim. Today I got it trimmed by a hair dresser that has been cutting the hair of my mother, sister, and myself for as long as I can remember. So I didn't have to deal with the anxiety of letting a stranger near my hair, and with her expertise she cleaned it up amazingly well without sacrificing much length.
I would not recommend anyone else try this unless you got genetics on your side, I was very lucky to somehow only have very few split ends after 3 years from an electric shaver buzz, most people would have very raggedy hair if they tried this I've been told. and I can't stress enough to find a hair dresser you can trust and go to for repeat business, never settle for supercuts or any of those chop shops.
I also have never used any fancy products or hair sprays, for me its daily or bi-daily washes with shampoo and conditioner, and no hair dryers, and especially no hari dyes.
I'm loving my length, going to get at least 2 1/2 feet of hair before I make the decision on what length best suits me, and this is my first experience in life growing my hair long. Unless it thins with age I intend to keep a full thick long mane for the rest of my life.
holy cow the image I tried to link is way too huge to even be seen on the page. My apologies, here is the same image but a lot easier to look at size wise.
wow...still way too huge. it looks just fine on imgurl then it explodes when i take it here, found out it was a 4,000x3,000 image.
here's to hoping 3'rd time is the charm...
Hi John,
Yes, I finally got the picture and it is large!LOL.Before I go on I'm including a link you can use for future picture posts to assist you with resizing photos for posting here.Just bookmark it as you can bring it up for future use when needed.
I couldn't agree with you more regarding knowing who will be working on your hair before having it trimmed.I'm glad it worked out for you and your goal sounds commendable. With straight hair like yours the length will get long quicker than if you had wavy/curly hair.Anyway good luck with your continued journey and hope to see you post more often.Cheers
Mark

thanks mark, the image size scared the crap out of me initially heh. and thank you everyone else for your compliments :) Its my first time ever growing my hair out and I've been loving the experience, and I don't have any intentions to ever go back.
I also had wavy hair until it got about 6 inches long then its weight straightened it out, My mom and sis agree that our genetics are perfect for long hair. I'm basically half native american half french and was blessed with the thickest strongest hair around.
Photo just a tad smaller and framed. Looking great.
Congragulations! :-)
Justin~
Looking really good, great colour and shine - you're doing all the right things, well done. Ian
John, your hair looks very healthy and is a wonderful length! Congrats on the 3 yr milestone! :) What shampoo and conditioner are you using that seems to be keeping the ends from splitting?
I use aussie brand shampoo and conditioner, the moist one. Normally its stupid spendy like 7 bucks for a 1 liter bottle but I coupon hoard it for 2 bucks a liter.
Well done in the 3 year milestone and the hair is looking great :-)
Cheers,
John.B
Awesome hair, John!

Your hair appears to be in excellent condition, John. It is good that you had it trimmed by someone you could trust. Great update, keep it growing.

Nice update! How long is it in a ponytail?
In a tail I'm roughly at 11 inches right now.
