Nearly 50 years ago a band from Liverpool, England exploded on the scene, first in the U.K and then world wide
they also started the Long hair trend for young Men and before long many young men were growing their hair out
The Beatles were revolutionary on many levels and the hair got much longer and soon those with the crewcuts found themselves unpopular with the ladies.
they were the ultimate Pop/Rock band of their era.
they went from having Mop tops to mid back length within a few short years and many other bands emulated the look.
During the Beatles era more young guys wanted longer hair then anytime in history and the girls dug it!
Unfortunately, within the last two decades "long hairs" as we've been referred to have found themselves marginalized in many areas often told that We're "behind the times", "Stuck in the past" or referred to as "metalheads" in a derogatory sense and other things behind our backs, but today out of nowhere emerges another young band, a Indie Pop group who all have longer hair-much longer than many have actually worn it within the indie scene.
could there be a huge Long Hair resurgence around the corner?
what do you guys think?
Indie Pop band Cults
As much as I'd like it to happen. I'm not sure it will. People seem to be overly concerned with "styling" at the moment. The nearest equavilent to male long hair in popular music at the moment are those emo lads, the ones who spend waaaay too long tweaking their hair and flicking their heads every time it drops into their eyes.
One thing there is hope in, is that metal is making waves again and there are a lot of long hairs in that scene. In pop music though? Now? I'm not sure :/
Cheers,
Neil.
I guess you forgot to check out these guys
not exactly an emo or Metal band. ;-)
long haired indie pop band
Don't know about the USA but it's already happening here in the UK. Check out any college or uni here and a huge proportion of young guys (or at least the ones with even a hint of cool) have long hair. And it ain't just indie types. The USA will probably catch up eventually.

I haven't been to UK in many years, but i can say this, i read somewhere that shoulder length and longer hair on white males in the USA is only about 2%. i wish we were a protected minority but were not, especially in the corporate world.why is that a Rastafarian can get away with dreads here and a white male cant usually grow his out. just and observation in reverse discrimination James/Tampa,Fl
