Hi guys, hope you all are having a nice weekend.I just wanted to post this update from last weekend where I did a full Henna treatment to my hair.I really liked the results except for the fact my beard looked like a foreign ob ject.lol.So last night I dragged out the extra Henna left over and gooped it on the ole' facial hair. Now wasn't that fun:)He He.Anyway for better or worse here is the result. Thanks for all your kind words last weekend btw.Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark, Wow, that certainly looks more the business!
Hi Ian, ha ha,I hope that's a good thing;)Cheers
Mark
Hey Ian, I don't think anyone outside the UK knows what you just said!!! I can usually figure things out, but this one stumped me. Please be so kind as to translate UK English to US English. :) :) :)
Hi Laura,
There's a great online site called
URBAN DICTIONARY
It is where people who are puzzled by slang words can find out what they mean.
According to this site THE BUSINESS is
1) A phrase pertaining to coolness (ie person, place, thing)
2) Substitute phrase for wors such as "cool, tight, awesome"
Examples: " Dude that basketball game was the business" and
" Bro - check out that girl, she's the business"
I found the website after hearing some kid call another kid's t-shirt gay and wondered WTF? I have since learnt the meaning of new street terms by using this online Urban Dictionary.

Mark, i think it looks great, have you ever been to Scotland, i have and your hair color with the same colored beard you would fit right in. I mean that sincerely. im thinking of doing the same thing when i get to 36 months. take care brother. you would look good in a full kilt with a bad assed sporran.James/Tampa,Fl
Hi James,
Thanks for your compliment:)I have never been to Scotland but it would be cool to go there looking like the locals.Maybe they wouldn't take advantage of me being an American tourist.Hmmm,I never imagined myself in a kilt as that would be interesting to see I suppose.Cheers
Mark
WOW Mark! That came out really great, I'm very impressed by how well it matches. It's a cool look for sure and the best part is that it's good for your hair!
Hi Jason,
When doing it I was unsure how it would turn out being beard hair is different than head hair but as expected all my gray did go orange!LOL.That's fine as it does match my hair really good but I will probably have to do more frequent maintenance touch ups on the my beard than would be needed on my hair.Cheers
Mark
-----------------------------------------
The combo looks great, Mark. Hopefully it will be easy to maintain. I am considering henna, if it is easy to apply and easy to maintain. How difficult is it to dye the new growth? That will need to be done about once a month.
Scott
Hi Scott,
Thank you for the thumbs up on my Henna treatments. One thing I have to say at this point is that applying Henna is messy but manageable as long as you take precautions.Don't let it get on anything that can stain such as towels as I just washed some that I used during the treatment and stains did remain on those.I would recommend using towels that you wouldn't care about if the Henna stained them. The maintenance is up in the air for me as only time will tell before knowing how often I will need to repeat the process.I certainly want it to stay looking good. With that said I don't regret doing it and look forward to maintaining my new look:)Cheers my friend.
Mark
Scott- applying the henna for the regrowth is the easiest part because all you have to do is apply the henna to the new greys and that's it! Henna does'nt fade away-the only way to get rid of henna is to cut off lol...I usually try to do my roots about once a month but I've been lazy and haven't hennaed my hair all Summer long- However, the hennaed hair has never faded on me- what's best is that henna protects your hair from the Sun so it doesn't dry out---I think that most people should take the plunge with henna because they are definitely missing out on all the benefits it offers...Chemical dyes are so overrated and so harmful as well.
--------------------------------------
I may consider it. I don't know if I want my hair bright red like that. I will keep in touch with Mark to see how well henna has worked out for him. He will be in the SF Bay Area in late September for the big longhair party.
Scott
hi Mark
thanks for this update....and i must say the finished product (hair and beard!) looks awesome!!....and makes you look younger too!
Thanks for the inspiration dude!
Scott
Hi Scott,
I'm glad to share my experience using Henna with all you guys who might be on the fence about it.I know it took me a while to make the decision to go for it.That's why I did Cassia first which applies just like Henna but without the color change. So with the Henna I had a good understanding of how the process works.I have no regrets my friend:)I appreciate your compliments especially lookin' younger;)Cheers
Mark
Nicely done. I was not certain a full match would look natural, However, on you, it does. You actually look a lot like a cousin of mine in Britain, (originallly of Edinburgh) or more correctly, as he did when younger. Now, find your tartan, Have a proper kilt sewn, proper length, weave and pleat. and as recommended a good quality sporran Ye'll be rrready for the games' Loddih!
Hey Rktect,
Ha Ha, you've got me in a kilt too!Sounds like I'm almost ready for the games right now:)I'm getting pumped.YEA!Thank you for your critique of my makeover my friend.Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark! The color fits you very well, loved when you did it in your hair, but now with the beard, it's a full pack lol. Keep up uhe nice work.
Big hug.
Thank you AndyBeta as I value yours and everyone else's opinions on my new hair color. The more I look at it the more pleased I am that I did it:)
Hugs back at ya my friend.
Mark
Looks awesome, dude !!
Thank you very much John as I appreciate your input:)Cheers
Mark
That looks awesome dude! where can I get this stuff and does it come in different colors?
Thanks dude, I'm glad you like my look:)I purchased my Henna from a site recommended by another user here named dee.I'll attach a link to the site so you can check it out yourself. They have good phone support too should you have specific questions.I know you can alter the straight Henna color with other natural dyes.Good luck should you decide to give it a try.Cheers

much appreciated and I will definitely check it out!
Hi Mark,
I have to say that this really does look good, matches your hair perfectly, and cheers to you for a job well done!
As for the weekend, I sure cannnot complain, since the weather has been really gorgeous lately.
Take care, and enjoy your weekend!
David
Hi David, I'm glad you are having an enjoyable weekend as the weather by me today has been fabulous:)I attended a BBQ at my cousins home down south.
I have to admit the match of my beard came out well in my opinion also.I took a chance doing it as it might have looked really bad causing me to shave it off.Great hearing from you my friend:)Cheers
Mark
Your beard looks nice that way! Makes you look like a redhead! I wonder what it'll do to me. You forgot your armpit hair though....... o_o
....And your eyebrows. Any other spots, we really don't need to know. (Thats the problem with changing from factory color, you have to spray everywhere)
That was funny John about the armpits James/Tampa,Fl
Hi John, I have to say you guys are a riot!LOL.Now I have to color every other hair on my body with Henna even in unmentionable areas;)Well maybe I'll just stick to being a red bearded redhead:)Cheers my friend and thanks for your compliment.
Mark
AND I EXPECT PICTURES of those other hairs ...... hmm .. maybe not here though! ;p
Ha Ha,yea those pics might ruffle a few feathers.I bet the process of applying that Henna would be the most satisfying though;)lol.Cheers
Mark
LOLOL!!!!!! I didn't think of the application process!
Looks much better now! I prefer the henna-you to your before-henna look :)
Thanks Abstrakt as I try to please:)I hope I inspire you to remain a longhair my friend.Cheers
Mark
Thumbs up!
Damon
Thank you Damon:)
Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark,
The hair and beard henna combo looks great!
Duncan
Thanks Duncan as it looks like that's the majority opinion:)I do appreciate it coming from you too my friend.Cheers
Mark
Mark, you could play a highlander in the movies James/Tampa,Fl
Hey Red!! I have to admit, when I *first* saw how red your beard is now, I was like: "Woah!! Dude!! Now that is some really realy redness you got going on there!!" After the initial 3 seconds of surprise wore off, I was like: "Wooooaaaahhh!! Duuuuuddddeeeee!! That freakin' rocks!!!" :) Now all you need is a green beer and a kilt (bagpipes optional) to go with the redhead look!! :) I wish I had the balls (figurativly speaking) to wear a drastic color change like that -- You go boy!!! :) :)
OK, where is my kilt!LOL.
Hi Laura, now I have to say "You Rock" as your support for us guys is so amazing:)I really, really thank you for your response.I have to say I'm not the kind of guy that likes drawing attention to myself but I really love my hair more than ever now in its new form.I have no problem walking in public with my red mane.I also hope to inspire others too;)Have a great weekend Laura!Cheers
Mark
Hey, Mark. Man, it looks great! Before my hair started getting a lot of gray and/or white in it, I had natural red hair just about that color. As a kid, I was always called things like "Red" or "Carrot Top". Now people think I've got a head full of blonde hair, but it's really red with a lot of white mixed in.
At any rate, I'm glad you did it. Looks great.
Steve
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the compliment as I am very satisfied with the results and the beard came out great I felt.Should you desire to be that "Carrot Top" again one Henna treatment would definately restore that.Just be warned the grays may turn kinda orange but its not that awful. My beard was mostly gray but I think it looks fine with the color change.Cheers my friend.
Mark
Hey Mark -
The hair and facial hair looks awesome! It really toned down some..The color looks like your own natural color-it actually makes you look younger---Let me know how the color lasts on the facial hair because I would like to try it out on mine...I currently use hair for men facial dye but it sucks because it only last a few days and then I need to dye it again and I honestly don't want to use these chemicals on my face...Anyway, it looks great! II think you definitely pass for a red-head lol.
Hi dee,
Thank you for the compliments:)I'd say after a week since doing the Henna treatment I'm really enjoying the new look.I'd agree the color did settle down a bit even though still quite red.I was going to do what you are doing to my facial hair but figured I had all this extra Henna left over so why not use a bit of it on my beard.I left it on only around an hour and a half before washing it out found it did a fantastic job getting rid of all that gray.I'll keep you posted on how it holds up but the color shouldn't fade. The biggest issue will be new beard growth and having to redo it to maintain the full color.I also agree this whole thing makes me look younger:)Cheers my friend.
Mark
Looks great, and you look about 10 years younger.
Thank you Devon for your input:)Now I need to find something that makes me look 20 years younger!LOL.Cheers my friend.
Mark
Looking good Hairball. You're starting to resemble this guy:
http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1272139948l/618247.jpg
That's from the cover of a really good book (historical fiction) that I read a couple of years back. :)
Well starting would be a good word because I'm no where near as built as that guy but the facial hair is coming closer:)The mane is truly awesome!Cheers
