"you should donate your Hair to Locks of Love"
I have yet to find a good way to without sounding like a "Greedy Asshole" as some have put it....
A lot of people have told me that, too. I ignored them until I read online that a lot of their donations don't even go to the people and/or situations that you might request they go to. That's just hearsay, but it's good enough for me. I don't intend to cut it, anyway.

Sure! When I'm dead, along with any other bits that might be useful!
I have several responses:
1) I support several charities, Locks of Love isn't one of them.
2) I support several charities with my money or my time, not my hair.
3) I expect a certain level of transparency and accountability of any charity I support, and Locks of Love doesn't meet them.
You could just say that you might do that someday if and when you ever decide to cut it, but that's not in your plans for anytime in the near future. And leave it at that.
Sod off or similar with an appropriate degree of venom. If the person objects to that then a curt reminder to attend to their own affairs not mine.
Works a treat and they should not be expecting anything less for their impertinence.
Mr Brad B,
If it were me responding I'll tell the rude person a few home truths about LOCKS OF LOVE and the fact that they are a scam who charge families money for wigs and throw out or sell on most of the donated hair. Also why use real human hair when you can use synthetic hair instead which would be a lot cheaper. Fine or Medium density hair is never used and wig makers prefer thick coarse hair instead. Hair sourced from India or Asian is more often used for wigs. My hair is fine so I would tell the person that it wasn't suitable for wigs anyway. Checkout a link on the Men's Long Hair Board for HAIR RELIGION. They have some useful tips and good comebacks to deal with rude ignorant people!

I'd refer people interested in how to approach the Lock Of Love question to refer to Hair Religions site for some interesting information.
Try this......
China makes just about anything mankind could possibly want so why not buy synthetic hair from China, which I'm sure you can get in the color of your choice, that they could produce by the tons! Why on earth does LOL need a man's beautiful locks to make these wigs when they can help the Chinese economy.Hope this helps:)Cheers

"Why don't you donate a kidney as long as you're feeling so charitable?"
When a closed-minded person says something to me like that, I've learned in life to say the absolute minimum amount of words, if anything at all.... I also happen to like sarcasm, though! Many of your earlier replies from other users here I feel are quite useful; but the important thing to remember is to just allow yourself to, "be in the moment": don't "plan" ahead too much what to say, as every situation and every anti-lonhair bigot is different, thus bringing about a unique reply to each stupid comment like that...
And hey, if anyone thinks I'm a "greedy asshole" for wanting to keep my long hair, let them think whatever they wish -- as long as I never cut it because someone is trying to pressure me or manipulate me into a haircut, I win, regardless!
Locks of Love does have a well-known record, though, of not using a lot of the donated hair... so Just smile and say you happily donate your time or $$ to other more worthy and reputable charitable organizations.

How about: "That's just what I plan on doing when I decide to have short hair again."
