It's a good thing Principal Lamb was NOT my School principal because we would've definitely got into it AT LEAST once a week and I could think of a number of reasons I would have been suspended or expelled due to my hair, choice of clothes or facial hair
I actually wore a goatee for awhile and my hair was past my shoulders for at least two years!
IN addition to having to keep their hair short these poor kids can't even have a mustache!!
this is clearly a violation of this kids rights!
I agree Duncan, I would be suspended every week lol...High School is such a great time to explore your identity and to tell a young kid that he can't be who he wants to be is sending such a wrong message. Thankfully, I was able to wear my hair how I wanted in high School. Long, short, spiked and shaved, it was every color imaginable as well...I was thankful that I could be who I wanted with the usual parental negative remarks of course. ( but that was manageable)
One of my school rules is that "male students must be clean shaven". Only just found that out because the teachers never seem to care. Students grow facial hair and the teachers don't mind. AHHHH, glorious freedom. We're one of the only schools in our district that allow for no hair restrictions. Mainly because all the other schools in the region are private/christian schools. I feel lucky that none of my schools had hair restrictions. My primary and intermediate schools (elementary and junior high - US respectives) said that anyone's hair that was longer than the shoulders had to be tied up. This wasn't exclusive for males either, both guys and girls had to abide. This is an example other schools should lead by. It is fair, non sexist yet not violating ones freedom.
Agreed!
Funny how Yeshua had long hair and a beard yet those Christian schools won't allow that for their students to emulate Christ! It makes me wonder why many Christians even consider themselves worthy of that title since many of them are anything but Christlike. Christians often give a bad name to Christianity.
Actually I wouldn't consider these judgemental people to be true christians. I called them pharisee-christians or what a christian friend said that these people are a churchianity group. And Jesus Christ himself probably wore moderately short hair if he worked long hours as a carpenter in a hot humid middle eastern climate where long hair would just get in the way. If he had long hair then why did Judas need to point him out to the Romans from the others in the group? It is possible to worship god without being religious at all. Religion is a man made institution that has been used for social control and brainwashing for way too long. Question everything and think for yourself.
Interestingly in Orthodox Christianity, long hair and beards are encouraged for men! I think it was the western church that got this whole idea about Christian identity screwed up. Few people understand the real character identity of Christianity since they are unfamiliar with the early Orthodox denomination.
You cannot blame the principal; he is doing his job of enforcing the rules. He did not make the rules, the committee that oversees the entire school district made up the dress code as well as everything else in the student handbook.
That's like saying you cannot blame Nazi Storm troopers for "doing their job" by rounding up the Jews during the holocaust because of Hitler!
what about African-Americans who were arrested for refusing to sit in the back of the bus or refusing to leave a "whites only" cafeteria over 50 years ago? turning police dogs on civil rights protesters who were protesting these unjust laws?
I suppose you don't blame those law enforcement officers for "doing their job" either, right?
unjust laws/rules are meant to be challenged and if it means going up against some idiotic principal/storm troopers/cop just "following orders" than so be it!
the U.S. is SUPPOSED TO BE a country about freedom and this looks like clear-cut fascism to me and I am sure the majority of posters on this board would agree 100%!!!
You said it. I totally agree. It amazes me how the founding documents of what made America what it is (The Declaration of Independence and The U.S. Constitution) are now treated with as much consideration and respect as a bum who sleeps on a park beach. It's sad, tragic and beyond pathetic. Our government treats all humanity, goodness and liberty we wish to have with contempt. All is looking ripe and ready for a revolution! Hopefully a Ron Paul RLOVEUTION!
Nothing in America will change unless Ron Paul becomes President in 2012 and we go back to using money that cannot be printed like water comes out of a faucet. That I can tell you with certainty.
Wonder what this brainless wonder would have done with a student by the name of Abraham Lincoln?
A great problem as the whole country sinks deeper: too many people stay focused on stupid things like this. We are suppose to have Long Hair and Facial Hair and all is a part of Mother Natures plan. But man (the stupid ones) think they are in charge and look at all of the destruction they have brought.
Well, I hope this highly overweight Principal enjoys it when the food chain breaks. And, it IS going to break. The writing is on the wall.
When starving, it may suddenly dawn on this moron that it doesn't matter that a mans hair be Long nor that he displays facial hair. No wait, he's too far gone to even realize.

This high school principal is a moron. (Notice the low neanderthal forehead) I have never seen someone so narrow minded. Hair is a God given part of YOUR body. YOU have legal claim to it, the school system does not. Dress code should only cover clothing, and that should give you some freedom of choice as to what you wear. You can't put on or take off your hair each day.
Another thing, forced shaving of the beard in our society is a conspiracy to feminize the male. (How is it that the military services claim to make a man out of you while feminizing you at the same time?}
It is time for a change at that Texas high school. The students should hold huge protests. Imagine if 80% of the students protested rather than show up for class? Sometimes it takes big time civil disobedience to bring about change.
End of rant.
Scott
I look forward to your response to my next post!
Hi Scott
*AMEN!
*Military? High class name for murder. All this country is good for now is being involved in needless wars. How about getting the US straightened out first? How about being a nation that produces things once again? How about going back to the ORIGINAL CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!!!! How about NOT LYING TO THE PEOPLE! HOW ABOUT DOING ALL POSSIBLE TO RESTORE A ONCE BEFORE WONDERFUL IDEA AND "HONOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!"
*One trouble. The "typical US Citizen" apparently cares not about what is going on about them. Just as long as they have their Playtoys. ie: Cell Phones, iPods, Video Games and the newest electronics. Not to mention the greatest of all hobbies of the day. EATING! Yes.........stuff thyself full and keep going until you are a BLIMP and then top it off with a BIG GULP! Hey, "they" are still playing and have a job so the world is fine. But...........cancel the "Stupid Bowl" in January and THIS would see very angry people who live their whole lives for this most important event. They WOULD Protest. (But, secretly tax then through the paper fiat dollar able to buy less and less.......no problem.) But, DUH GAME! This stalls more and more time for the government to try and hold the wool over peoples eyes. Sure.......keep the people happy and divert their attention to the real problems and not really help their own citizens. The "Ponzi Scheme" cannot go on forever, none of them ever do. Paper currency has a 100% track record of becoming worthless once no longer backed by a tangible. Gold has a 6,000 year track history of holding value. ALL great empires and nations that have fallen have done so because of their economy. The SAME mistake reapeats itself throught history over and over.
Nixon in 1971 severed the American Dollar from gold to the rest of the world "in the better interest of the people." Sure and guess why? THe Feds were getting nervous.......some country was going to, could, or was getting ready to ask for payment in Gold rather than the greenback. So in haste, the Nixon decree. Quite a foxy way of avoiding up and up obligations and "paying out" with the REAL MONEY. ie: the gold. But wait, we still do not know how much of the metals are in Fort Knox. 2 audits in the past were absolute pathetic JOKES!
*Mine too.
Justin~
ps: And to think, that dummy who is Principal has brains that actually carry out such a school policy? He's a BIG boy now, but I guess cannot think for himself. All he has to do is resign and let the Education Board know why because of this lame-brain policy. They would change, but 1st they need a good protest from all of the parents. Oh yeah, they are probably MUCH too busy Text Messaging very important messages.
There probably would be mass protests if the Superbowl and probably would protest if "American Idiot(Idol)" was cancelled, but when it comes to student's rights no one is hardly protesting or seems to care especially in these small communities.
what NEEDS to be done is bring this to the attention of many others who live outside the state of Texas and probably outside the U.S as well. some Canadians and Europeans have already commented on a couple of these on youtube and expressed outrage as much as the people on this board have.
the more attention it gets the more likely change will come about!
change does not occur when a handful of people protest in a small town of mostly narrow-minded idiots where protest does absolutely no good.
send these principal clips of this Lamb guy to as many people you know. the more the better!
I'm glad I live in this side of the pond!
Yeah, and we have real ale too :)
'The Lamb and his Sheep'. This guy reminds me of another bald guy with a disdain for long hair on men (This was back in 1994)
Blockbuster Employees Fired
So whatever came of their cases?
did they win or lose? did Blockbuster change their policies for male employees?
They didn't win or lose. The music chains of Blockbuster went bankrupt about 4 years later.
perhaps they should have cared more about employee loyalty then hair length.
Exactly. I would choose Billy The Exterminator over The Orkin Man if I had a pest control problem and Billy did a better job.
Move to Europe it's so much less hastle over here!
Perhaps they should hire "Alaska babe" or a new mission for the Westbro!
Cheers,
John.B
He's from England. That's also where I'm from originally, but I live in the States.
That reminds me of my time in high school - when I was living in Romania which was ruled at that time by the communist dictator Ceausescu. I had to wear uniform and had to keep my hair cut at no more than 3 cm (1 1/5").
Later, when I went to college, we were no longer required to wear uniforms, but I still got the rector on my case when I let my hair grow longer and when I grew a moustache.
I couldn't grow a beard because the mayor of the Bucharest district where I was living had banned it.
Looks like Texas is heading the same way - with the governor at the front...
