I did it. The thoughts had been flying around in my head on and off for about 8-9 months now, and i finally reached the point where it just drove me crazy. I could not stand thinking about how i should wear my hair another day! My hair, haircare and the thoughts about it had become more of a burden to me than pleasure, so something had to be done. I figured that the best way to get rid off all the nonsense thoughts that had occupied my mind for so long was to do something radical. So i did it. I cut my hair short again.
With this i will also leave this site. However, i will always support long hair on guys, and will always be thankful for all the help i've gotten from this site. Thanks alot guys, and keep growing until you've had enough!
Goodbye, farewell, amen
Some people might think that it's polite to give an explanation before disappearing.
I suppose I over-reacted a bit but I got a bit upset with his mention of long hair as something just a trivial and he hinted that it was just a silly experimental phrase. But yes it is polite to let people know when they leave. Just hate seeing the long to short hair pictures.
Hey Abstrakt,
What can I possibly say as your post is one I dread seeing from a guy,who I thought, had an outstanding mane.Obviously its your choice and I'm sad to see you go but I understand.I do have an answer to your last sentence and that is ....I'll NEVER HAVE ENOUGH OF MY LONGHAIR!It's been a part of my life for over 25 years and I intend to depart this earth with my mop:)I wish you the best Abstrakt.Cheers
Mark
just like driving a truck over the road is not for everyone , flying a plane having long hair. good luck with you life. you will still recognize us. we will be the lads sitting on our hair at the train station. James/Tampa,Fl
Not Happy with Wearing your hair down?
Yeah, precisely what I was thinking. What's there to think about, Abstrakt? There are only so many ways a guy can wear long hair.
Why not simply just wear it down like Brad B. said? Problem sorted! If having it really long is a pain, just cut it to shoulder length. You still got long hair but don't have to worry about pony tails, braids and stuff. Best of both worlds.
I have it slightly past shoulder length, just wear it down, wash it and comb it - that's it! I never give it a second's thought. Much easier than short hair 'cause all I'll have to do is trim it now and then instead of a fullblown haircut.

That's a shame! You look very happy with your haircut for now, and perhaps one day will decide to grow it again. Good luck in whatever you do, it's your future - enjoy!

I find your post highly offensive, like you thumbing your nose at us after cutting all your hair off. This site is for males who want grow their hair out and get a little support from their fellow longhairslonghairs " keep growing until you've had enough" wasn't necessarily the way to say goodbye. i hope your boat sinks !!!
You make is seem like this is some phase that we're going through. Most of us would disagree with you.
I'm hoping that was an unfortunate choice of words, and that he meant grow to whatever length you find comfortable.

I'm sorry to hear of your choice because I thought long hair really looked good on you. But ultimately it's your choice. It's hard for me to fault you, some of us went down that same road several times when we were young. Good luck in the future and thanks for remaining a supporter.

He, thanks for the pic. You look happy...can't believe the offense some folks take at a haircut. Seems you were just explaining your departure.
Hell, I lopped off 18 inches 3+ years ago and it is back down to waist-length, so it will always come back : )
^^^Personally, I don't feel that the last sentence was meant in a derogatory way; we have ALL said/typed something that may have come out wrong or sounded different than we meant it to.
The important thing is that Abstrakt was a positive contributor to this board, and has said he will continue to support long hair on men. I give him kudos for sharing in a positive way, and now for following what HIS heart tells HIM to do -- which is the same thing that each of us wants for ourselves, to follow what our hearts tells us what is right for us. And he is just being polite by telling us why he is leaving.
Abstrakt: thank you for all your past input and photos, keep being true to yourself, keep spreading positive energy to the world, and good luck in all your future endeavors!
I'm sorry that you received so many hostile responses since you've always been so nice to everyone here. Despite posturing as individualists, it would seem that some long-haired men are not immune to being shallow and putting appearances above character. Some of the responses to your post are a disgrace to this site.
Abstrakt,
For a few moments there, I hadn't recognized you, mate. Quite a change! While I myself delight in all of the things that have to do with being a longhair, I thoroughly respect your decision to make a change. Sometimes we've to take big steps to reexamine ourselves. Wherever your life takes you, may you find serenity and a fair deal of bliss in your travels. Take care! : )

Perhaps what you should have let go, instead of the hair, was most of the thinking about it. That was the problem, not the hair, specifically.
