Hi all
Needless to say, I am very tired right now but have just put this video on You tube. It is my very sad look at todays society people and any compassion towards fellow Human Beings. Also priorities: They don't see the big picture but get all hung up about a guy that wants to be just a bit different. This extends into the work place and school system as we all know. Well, I "think(?)" I may have made some good points despite my present condition.
I am in disgust of the whole thing.
Too tired to make any comments to your comments, but this in no way means I don't love you all. Just not enough energy today and feeling sick all the time.
Justin~
(Just turned 63 a few day ago.)
I'm just glad your okay mate :-)
So glad you're ok. I hear what your saying about society. I too am disgusted by what is happening to our society. Thanks for posting the video.
Be well.
Remember to check up with your doctor. If you're still "feeling sick all the time" you need to get it checked out. Hope you soon feel better.
I listen to my iPod all the time but I don't ignore the people around me. Most of the people in my local city in the UK are thoughtful - maybe not as polite as a generation ago - but still thoughtful. There are still lots of caring people around, the young as well as the old.
There are selfish and thoughtless people in every generation. I'm sorry you came across a few of them yesterday.

Tired or not, you need to have a medical check done. The EMTs that looked you over were too lax in their assessment. I am glad you feel you are O.K, and you may be, but tired and aches, though they may pass, warrant looking into. We all care. Please do this for our peace of mind as well as yours.
Hey Justin, sorry to hear about your ordeal but I'm glad you are alright. Truckers are typically very safe drivers (it's their profession after all), so you were extremely unlucky there.
I agree with everything you said about how disconnected people are now. I've noticed it as well even within family. People think I'm a weirdo (and aren't afraid to say so) just because I don't own a cell phone.
Hi Justin, and what a sobering video and a sad reflection on society. You ask who cares? well many of us do care very much as seen on both this board and the Youtube comments. Good luck and get well soon from your many friends. Ian
Hi Justin,
I'm very sorry that you experienced such a horrific incident. It's very sad and disturbing that this guy hit you and took off like that.
I'm hoping that you haven't sustained any hidden injuries. Please get yourself thoroughly checked out and update us.
Wishing you the best,
Jason
Look after yourself Justin.
Best wishes Dave
Hey Justin,
David sent the message out yesterday, about what happened, and I just couldn't believe it.I thought that the societal attitude you described more of less existed in the Tri State area where I live but obviously its rampant all over.I'm thankful you survived this but I know it will change your life forever.I'll keep this short but I'm always thinking of you Justin and enjoy the times we chat over the wire:)Just take it slow for now and hopefully justice will be done in the end my friend.Talk with you later.
Mark
Justin, I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience, but I'm glad you survived to tell the tale. You said nobody stopped to check on you, but do you know if anyone called 911 to report the incident? That is the one upside to everyone carrying a cell phone, such incidents have a better chance of being reported.
Hopefully you'll start feeling better in a few days, but please be mindful of that head injury. It might be wise to have someone check on you periodically until you've had it checked out by your doctor.
Anyhow here's a belated "Happy Birthday" wish, and I hope you're around to celebrate many more!

Hi Justin,
I am glad that you posted this to the board, and you already know how shocked and horrified that this happened to you. I sure hope that the jerk who did this will be found, and brought to proper justice.
You can count on my continued thoughts and prayers that you make a full recovery, and I agree with everyone that a thorough checkup is a good idea.
Take care,
David
hi Justin
That story has both saddened and appalled me....I despair of human nature sometimes and was really pleased to see you reporting on the incident even though you seem understandably to be a little shaken up.
Here's hoping you feel more yourself asap and get the justice that would be valid and relevant in this case.
On one very bright note Justin....you look fantastic for 63 and despite your recent incident...clearly an inspiration to folk on and off this site dude.
Sincerely
Scott
Justin,
I'm sorry you had to experience an accident like that, along with the selfish way that people seemingly had no reaction to it at all. Self-centeredness is getting worse in our society all the time. I will pray for the Lord's healing and comfort to be upon you during this time. Take care, my friend. Steve
As am EMT for a number of years let me point out a few things;
1. A number of people won't stop because they are afraid of being
sued or they aren't trained in what to do.
2. I got rear ended a number of years ago by a truck driver who
totaled my car. I now suspect that the truck driver was an illegl alien. It took a long time for the whole thing to get settled.
3. If it is a busy road the worst thing you can do is stop to help. You really need to safely help them by calling the police
who can shut down that busy road and warn drivers with their
flashing lights that trouble is ahead. It may be tempting to stop and help but you're putting your life in danger on a busy road. Finally you're of no help to the injured party if
you're struck and killed by the passing rush of traffic.
And no a couple of flares in your trunk won't be enough to
warn on coming traffic.
--------------------------------------
This is awful, Justin. I hope and pray that the guy is caught and that you make a speedy and complete recovery.
Scott
Hi everyone and I thank you all for your concern. I am still very tired, but for a few facts: The accident was reported to the police without detail. From who??? They have it on their books but did not investigate. Cameras on bridge? Not always working and they will "try" and see if it is on film. I have heard nothing and it is now 3 days later. They WILL investigate and actually go to a scene when a death has been reported or injuries. Too many people, too few police. Welcome to todays world.

Hi Justin,
Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear that you survived and were not injured to seriously.
Your additional comments about today's society was also interesting to listen to, especially the comments about standing in line in grocery stores. Funny you should mention that, because I regularly enjoy letting someone with just one or 2 items go ahead of me whenever I have a large shopping cart full of stuff -- heck, it makes me feel good just to see their shocked facial expression (and for that reason alone I enjoy letting them cut ahead in line in front of me - LOL)!!
Whether it's being ignored while standing in a long line with just one lonely lemon to buy, or getting lowered eye-brow looks just because of being a guy with long hair while standing in that line, society can indeed be a strange and sometimes even hostile thing to have to deal with.
The thing I try to remind myself about is that I can never control somebody ELSE's actions (or reactions); but I can be in control of my own....
The good news is that I remember a few months ago I was standing in line in a Safeway grocery store when some else let me go ahead of them (because I had only 3 items, while they had a huge shopping cart full) -- and I was absolutely SHOCKED... usually it's so often only been the other way around, I couldn't believe somebody else was actually being kind and generous towards ME! It gave me hope, though. And you can hang on to that hope, too, Justin. Just continue being your usual polite and generous and kind self, and that example will be an inspiration to others... And who knows? Maybe someday that same inspiration to others that you've always provided will one day surprise you by some stranger being unexpectedly kind towards you, too.
I'm still sorry to hear about that road full of jerks that wouldn't even ask you if you were OK after the accident; but again, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and still make it a point in your life to still keep your own self to a higher standard of treating others, even if you haven't been recently treated by them in the same way that they should have behaved.
My best to you, Justin! And also I'd like to add to others who replied by agreeing with their suggestions of following through on having another check-up with your doctor, just to make sure.
Longhaired Hugs,
Ken
