Hi, guys
I've viewed a few discussions on this board and
I think I have pinpointed the root cause of where the intolerance towards long haired Men(such as myself) and you guys originates from and this one site had me really steaming as it should any rational thinking individual.
here is one excerpt from a page on
"How To Make A Man Out Of A Boy":
"1. Dress him like a man. As soon as his hair gets a bit shaggy, have it cut! It is better that little Johnny start life being masculine than to retain those beautiful ringlets at the age of two. Cut off those ringlets and make him look like a man. From the very first time that he is old enough to wear clothes, dress him like a boy, cut his hair like a boy, and make sure he always looks like a man. Teach him to be around boys that dress like boys. Teach him it is not Scriptural for a boy or man to have long hair or effeminate tastes in clothing. Read I Corinthians 11:14. "

in addition to that, there is MUCH Disinformation about the Goth subculture as evil and Wiccans , who are labeled as Satanists aw well. I have friends who are both.
many of you will find it laughable. some of you might become quite angry since we know there are many credulous people
who buy into this garbage which is nothing more than intolerance and bigotry based on pure ignorance.
also, as the username implies
I'm NOT cutting my hair for NO ONE and especially for intolerant bigots who hide behind the bible!!!
never give into intolerance! grow your hair if you desire!!
These ideas and attitudes you have described or borne out of a culture from the eastern meditteranean. These superstitions are all part of a way to control a large, and mainy illiterate population. Though most followers of these beliefs are more learned today, They are still used as tools of fear and ostracizion. That these beliefs have survived and grown to affect other cultures around the globe is amazing. However, only until you realize thaey were taught at the end of a sword, or cannon, or gun. I hold many of the beliefs of my Celtic ancestors. Wiccan is a natural belief system and in no way holds devil woship. The devil comes form "Devi". a mischievous and troublesome imp of the far distant past in southwest Asia and what is now India. Wiccan is a belief in the spirit within all things, animate and inanaimate. There is no evil, just nature. One is responsible for all ones actions. It is the belief of my Celtic ancestors, who also valued the length of a mans hair as a valid attribute. Moustaches as well.
First of all, I believe in God and the Bible. I am also a man who is growing my hair long (almost shoulder length now, about to dread up soon lol). I didn't look at the link but if you read "I Corinthians 11:14" , well, read the whole chapter, not just the verse. it's talking about more than just hair. it's talking about how God made man and woman different and the order of things (God the head of man, man the head of women, or something). also, I think it's like the next verse or something says how a woman's hair is her glory and she should not cut her hair. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever wrote this "make a boy a man" thing is a Christian woman with chin length hair, if that long, but I won't get into all that here, there's probably no women reading this anyway.
One main difference that God made between man and woman is hair on the face. but many Christian men shave the hair off their face, as if they want a face like a woman. or a boy. that should be in the "make a boy a man" pamphlet, he should grow the hair on his face so he looks like a man. I bet that isn't in there! It probably says, he should be hairless, bald, and "neat and tidy."
I didn't put this hair on me, God did! If I cut my hair "to be like a man" I almost feel like I'm saying to God, "sorry God you messed up putting this long hair on my head and face, let me undo this, fix your mistake, and shave my hair how 21st century worldly humans say I was suppose to be made to look like."
Now, of course, I'm definitely against wearing women's clothing or whatever else it was talking about. who dresses a boy up in girl's clothes?
anyway, I'll stop lol. maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way anyway. but ultimately, this stuff isn't as important as living pure, holy, Christian lives and honoring God in all we do. also, loving one another and all of God's creation!
That was a very well written post and I agree with everything you said. Head hair is NOT a sexual marker. Facial hair generally is. I agree about the clothes thing as well.
I agree with everything you said and the only thing I would add is: 1 Samuel 16:7 ...for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
God says it so clear in this passage that the hair does not matter, only what lies in one's heart. Sad how people always feel the need to judge people based off there own bias and perception, and not any factual reason or action of the person they're judging.
