I normally oil my hair after washing, but a few weeks ago, I was very pushed for time so I didn't bother. Afterwards, I kind of decided to leave it a while before oiling my hair again to see what happened and just to check whether it was actually doing me any good.
Five weeks later, I can confirm that I'm going to start oiling again pdq. I've noticed a lot more split ends and the hair seems much more brittle too.
I know it's not a valid scientific experiment because I didn't use any controls, but it's convincing enough for me.
Hi Viking, I'm with you on oiling, although I usually oil once a week the night before washing. If I do miss that out for a couple of weeks, my hair does seem drier! My oil is Vatika Coconut - fairly cheap from Amazon in the UK. Ian
I think I'll start oiling my hair like you guys do. My hair is long but full of split ends and really brittle. I'm so loving this site as it is full of useful tips on how to take care of your hair. Cheers
I normally use a couple of drops of jojoba oil after washing, but every now and then I use coconut oil. I got a huge tub of the stuff from Holland & Barratt - probably enough to last me for the rest of my life! I find it's a little sticky, but it does produce good results.
I use jojoba oil. Vatika makes me shed lits of hair.
Start taking (as in eating) 2 Tablespoons of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil every day, and add some Vitamin E and/or Gelatine to your diet. What you put in your body is more important than what you put on your hair.

I agree. It's important to have the best building blocks for your hair to give it the best possible start, but hair is essentially dead, and you have to take care of it if you want it to look good - especially when it's over three feet long.
