My hair is starting to get a little long(I can put it in my mouth and it goes probably 2 inches below my ears)and I am wondering how to know if I have split ends. When I look at my hairs I don't see any that are split, but even when i have looked at images of people who supposedly had lots of them I couldn't tell any difference in them. So for all I know I have them and just wasn't aware.
if you look right at the tips of your hair they are pretty obvious to me(after 3 years i have a ton of them)....if you cant see them on the tips of your hair looking directly at it I doubt you have Split ends.
Yup! Splits look like splits. Given enough time (for the hair to age and the damage to pile up), you can graduate from a simple split to tridents and trees and ferns and eek! At the beginning, look for simple splits and white dots/abrupt kinks.
At that length you probably just don't have any yet. Just look at the end of the hair. If it splits like a snake's tongue, then you've got a split end. It's very easy to spot. It helps to see them if you hold the hair up to something light, like a backlit computer monitor. Like others said, sometimes you can spot the start of a split, which looks like a lighter colored "bulb" at the end of the hair.
Are You Daft?? or ttp??
