Hi folks!
A quick update on my project to grow out my sideburns. As you can see, they have made somewhat uneven progress, but are long enough to tie with a small ponytail band. The thicker sections are about two inches long, but there are individual hairs from higher up of about five and a half inches on the right and eight inches on the left.
Does anybody know how terminal lengths for sideburn hair compares with that for head hair?
I'm sure it's different for everyone, just like head hair. The terminal length for my sideburns is something over 30 inches, or somewhere between the mid and upper thigh. If you really want long chops, be careful with the rubber bands. You can easily break some of the longer hairs with them. Let them puppies grow!

WOW! i never seen sideburns that long, by the way cool goatee and sideburns!
Thanks Alex. My goatee is even longer now - just a "hair" short of knee-length:)

Your sideburns and goatee are absolutely gorgeous and super long. Have you ever considered growing out a full beard? I am reasonably sure you could give Jack Passion a run for his money.

Thanks Scott. I've had a few guys challenge me to a full beard growing contest, but I've respectfully declined. The goatee 'n chops look seems to suit me best, at least as far as the gals are concerned:) Besides, it's still 100 degrees here and full face fluff would be rather hot. I could probably beat Jack on length, but I can't match his density or awesome red color.
Thanks for the info and the inspiration - I have a long way to go! Yes, I only occasionally use the ties, and very carefully, in order to separate the areas I want to grow from the other facial hair that I don't want.
Hi there bte,
I've seen so many pics of men with mega-long beards, even on men waaay older than you or me (and even on men with little or no head hair), that my guess is that sideburn hair can probably grow far longer than most men's head hair. Check out Beard Team USA's pics of some amazing facial hair, as they are having annual mustache and beard competitions nowadays -- something that has been apparently happening for a much longer time over in Europe, and just now beginning to take off more in the US.
My best to you!!

Thank you for your good wishes!
You are probably right - certainly there is some impressive facial hair in those competitions. I shall have to persevere and see what cards I am dealt by whoever is in charge up there.
