Hey everyone!
I recently decided to start growing my hair out again, and while poking around the internet about various tips about doing the longhair thing again (not that I ever needed tips in the past, but I'm bored and wanted to have a look anyway), I stumbled upon this site. I really wish I'd known about it years ago, would have been great to talk to people who had pride in their longhair!
Waaay back in primary school, in grade four, I decided that I wanted long hair. I was pretty socially awkward, and I thought having long hair would make me stand out, and be noticed more. And it certainly worked. Everyone knew me for being that guy with the hair. Unfortunately I cut it off in my last year of high school, partly so it wouldn't be annoying during my exams, but also because I felt like being different, and for me short hair is different.
After that I let it grow again throughout most of university. I had almost two years of growth, and it was way down past my shoulders (when I straightened it anyway, my hair is naturally wavy/curly-ish). But again, I got to my last year of university, and again felt like being different, so off went the hair, a decision I regret a lot. I've kept it short for most of the year, but I've finally given up having to get it cut all the time. My last cut was about two months ago. It's slow going, but I'm going to get it back to where it was.
But yeah, I just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself. I think I'll be stopping by here quite often now :)
Oh, and the picture is of me when my hair was last at its longest. It was about two years of growth. I'm looking forward to getting back to there.
Hey w0nderfish,
You have a great head of hair to work with -- and before i forget to say it: Welcome to MLHH!!!
I'm always glad to hear about other guys deciding to grow their hair out, or to return to growing their hair back long again, as my personal view is that I've always been perplexed as to why so many guys prefer it so damn short... I've never figured that one out (LOL)!!

Hi w0nderfish,
I'd also like to extend my welcome to the mlhh as you will enjoy it here if longhair really does mean that much to you.Reading your summary there seems to be something about the last year of school that causes you to take it out on your hair.LOL.Honestly there are much kinder ways to feel different than going to short hair.Short hair unfortunately is as common as dirt and in that respect you blend in with the masses. For me I don't want to blend with the masses and do my own thing:)Anyway good luck on your regrowth and hopefully it sticks this time.Cheers
Mark
Haha yeah, I always freak out towards the end of school, and feel the need to cut my hair. And I guess making a last ditch effort to fit in was a factor too. But after finally coming to terms with the fact that I'm not going to easily fit in with everyone else, because doing so would mean giving up everything that makes me who I am, I'm ready to get my hair back.
And thankyou for the lovely welcome :)
Good decision! your hair from a couple of years growth looks great and suits you - would look even better longer! Ban the scissors! A warm welcome to the board. Ian
Thanks! I'd definitely like to get it longer. I should probably throw out my straightening iron as well. I got a bit carried away with it last time my hair was long, and I think it did some bad damage to my hair.

Welcome aboard!
Glad you found us. That's a nice looking head of hair you had then.
