It's been over 7 years since I've changed my little "avatar" pic -- and I believe MLHH rules state somewhere that I'm supposed to update that pic every 5 years (which means I'm already over 2 years behind-schedule)!
Anyway, if anyone has the time to give me some feedback about this, I'd greatly appreciate any and all comments.
This recent pic of me was taken by Mark (Hairball) when he was out here visiting last month. I'll refer to this as "New Pic #1"; a 2nd pic will follow...
- Ken
PS - My only concern about using either of these two new pics for an avatar is that I believe the photo chosen gets shrunken down to only show a close-up of the face & hair -- and yet I like seeing the ocean and the GG Bridge in the background. Hmmmm... decisions, decisions!
My current thoughts are that this 2nd pic doesn't have quite as pleasant a facial expression as the first; but I could be wrong, as the difference between the two is very subtle.
Thanks in advance to any and all who reply to this thread.

Hi Ken,
I really like this pic for a new avatar, and both new pics are good, actually! I am sure that if you ask Dave, when he does your new avatar, to include the beautiful SF background in your avatar, that he will find some way of doing so!
Looking forward to see how it turns out.
David
Hi Ken,
Hmmmmm, a tough decision but I tend to feel pic #1 might hold the edge.
Certainly a great image of you Ken as I know how hard it can be when deciding
on a photo of ourselves when it comes down to it.It's like who really likes their
drivers licence photo.LOL.Anyway your new avatar will look great as I also need to update mine.It may not be as old as yours but being my hair color has changed that's enough to warrant an update:)Hope you have a nice day in sunny CA as it's raining here in the east.Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the feedback! Similar to your hair color change is the fact that I've been coloring my beard for several months now, too -- and in order for us to be able to "drive" on the MLHH highway without getting a warning ticket, I guess we both will need to update our MLHH "driver's license" (LOL, another stupid joke from me... I guess I should have had my morning cup of coffee before typing this)!
Thanks again for your input, Mark!

1st pic I believe shows your true persona better, The slight grin harkens to a mischievous bent. And Though I have never met you in person. I am certain we could foment some 1st class mischief.(Perticularly in S.F.) I like Pic #1
LOL, what a great reply, I love it! Thanks so much for the feedback -- and yes, I do have that kind of reputation of having a "mischievous bent", just ask any of my regular dance partners... well, on 2nd thought, it's better for me that most of them are either women or short-haired (LOL)!
- Ken
PS - Don't you live here in No. Calif.? If so, one of these days we should have a meet-up sometime!
Alas, I do not, I live, with my partner of nearly 21 years, here in Phoenix, Az. However, I also have a mischievous outlook. In my wanton youth, I, along with a blond longhaired friend. were truly titled "Lucy & Ethel" We would give our respective husbands no end of exciting days. Though I have settled down somewhat in the ensuing years. I still have that gene within me. So any time, you wish to alter the direction of the universe, just give me a holler.
LOL, were you "Lucy" or "Ethel?" In any case, I'll choose to call you Lucy for now (LOL)....
Since the Universe occasionally enjoys being surprised about which direction it's going in, I'll take you up on your offer sometime! Partner dancing being an all-time favorite joy of mine in life, I have a reputation for "torturing" many of my regular partners, -- whether it's a Waltz, 2-Step, Swing, or Tango -- so if you happen to also enjoy that hobby, you are now fairly forewarned should you ever visit here in SF!
Thanks again for the fun reply!!
- Ken
Having a tinge of red in my hair (Auburn) I was "Lucy" as I was usually the one with the vivid ideas. Some were well planned and others were spur of the moment. Once, as we were returning form a shopping expedition, as we approached the door, a police car camescreaming up the street. Danny and i looked one another and we both knew what to do. We rushed through the door, closing it quickly then watched ,surreptitiously, through the window, as the cruiser flew past. We then turned to our hubbies, and I said, If anyone asks ,we have been here all day, then we walked past them and upstairs. The only thing said was from John, when he turned to my Steve, who was holding his head in his hands, and said. 'I don' t know hwat happened, but I know it's gonna cost us. Why did we do this?....because it was fun, and kept them on their toes. Then there was the time, on Super Bowl Sunday, we were shopping with a third friend, and lost Danny's newly gifted Buick. That is another story, and there are many others, as well.
I can dance. You show me the steps and I can make the moves.
Thank you as well, Jason

Hi Ken, I really like this image of you. I have cropped it to square form which can become your new avatar portrait. It shows your hair well.
Scott
Hi Scott,
Thank you for taking the time to do that -- and yes, I like how you cropped the image (even though I realize I can no longer see the GG bridge in the background)...
Which pic did you shrink, by the way -- Pic #1 or is this pic #2?? I can't tell the difference when it's cropped and blurry like that (LOL)!
Thanks again, Scott!
------------------------------------
This is #1. I can e-mail it to you, or you can copy and paste the cropped image to your hard drive.
Scott
Thanks again, Scott! I'll copy & paste it onto my computer screne; but if you wish to e-mail it to me, too, that's also fine with me... Thanks again!!
- Ken
Old one is perfectly fine unless you are bored with it.
Hi there UK,
I like the old (current) avatar pic, too; but the problem is that it's over 7 years old, taken in the early spring of '04 (when I was still 50y/o) -- and the rules of MLHH state somewhere that this little "avatar portrait" pic should be updated approximately every 5 years and/or whenever a significant change happens (like if I was to suddenly cut my hair short -- which of course I have NO plans to ever do again - LOL)...
Thanks so much for the feedback, UK, as I much appreciate it! Knowing me, though, no worries as I'll probably drag my feet on this one, since procrastination has always been one of my finest virtues - LOL)!
- Ken
I'm so used to your old one I wouldn't know you with a different
one. Why fix something that isn't broke? Keep it as is.
Hi MG,
Thanks so much for the kind words! As I said to UK, below (feel free to read it for more details), one of my best "virtues" is excellence in procrastination -- so no worries, I probably won't rush to change my avatar pic anytime soon; so if yet another 7 years slips by unnoticed, then people REALLY won't recognize me at all if they ever meet me in-person (LOL)!
- K
If you REALLY want advice?
Great hair, but lose the beard, man. I love beards, but somehow yours is not working. Sorry, but 'cha asked.
Ey, Ken! :D
I would say that the first picture suits you rather well. And hey, if you can reduce the image to a smaller size when you submit it (and still be pleased with how it looks), then that'd be pretty cool! Hope it turns out, and that things are well with the job and your pursuits! : )
Venya
hi Ken, both great images, and if you want the bridge in then let me know, (although it would be very small) I can crop it how you want no problem at all, I have the power from photoshop!!
Why not have a close crop for the avatar and the full image on the larger picture (once the avatar is clicked).
Looking forward to hearing from you :)
Dave
