Hey guys, just a question, i have medium length hair, and i'm still waiting for the front to grow out to be able to make a ponytail. But i'm tired of having hair all over my face, so i was thinking about using one of these hair bands (or w.e. they call them) to hold the front down and make a ponytail on the back for styling purposes.
Will these kind of plastic hair bands damage my hair strands in any way? If not, should i use one with small teeth or just a plain one as shown in the picture?
Thanks! Psyche.
No they wont damage your hair(my little sister wears them), but from what I know only women wear them. Now that doesnt mean you cant wear them, like the saying goes "whatever floats you boat" lol....maybe a bigger elastic band?, like how soccer players wear for their long hair so it wont get in their face during games. pictures attached so you get an idea
A good alternative is something like this, which is what I sometimes used. Lots of guys wear them, and you can usually keep your hair loose at the back while at the same time keeping it out of your face. Or you can still tie it up at the back. There are a lot of options with these headbands. And ones made from cotton or wool are good for keeping your head warm as well, what with winter on it's way for you folks in the Northern Hemisphere.
I believe David Beckham (also a famous soccer player and married to Posh Spice for those who don't know)used to wear one - at least before he let the side down by shaving his head!
Alice bands are fine - no harm. Type at your choice.,
My hair is about 8 inches long. 75 percent I can tie into a pony tail. I fake the rest by using hair spray and it looks fine. Give it a try.
If a plain band doesn't slip out, then that is better for your hair...the ones with little teeth often have sharpish edges due to worn/sloppy plastic moldings...however, the amount of damage probably isn't that large (unless you are planning to grow your hair to extreme lengths...in which case, any damage is a no no!)
My problem with bands like that is they eventually give me a headache (if they are tight enough to hold) or immediately fall out (if not).
By all means give them a try though!
