Hey guys, tell your short-haired friends there are plenty of good reasons to grow their hair. Here is my 'press release' that will be sent out to about 1200 + media outlets (health, lifestyle mostly) through the first half of next year:
The Bald Truth is Not Your Genes, Author Argues
New book offers theory of long-haired scalp health supported by science and biblical precedent
HOUSTON, Texas According to Roger Sigler, the baldness gene is a myth. Health and appearance would both be improved if mens hair was worn longer. Our LONG HAIRitage: Bringing Peace and Health to Your Head offers readers compelling research and conclusions to support a longer-haired lifestyle.
If you really want to prevent hair loss, heal the scalp, and even possibly re-grow lost hair, then you must read this book. You will learn many incredible things about the design, significance, symbolism, and purpose of human hair. Once you understand these purposes, and how hair is made, then you will learn how to properly care for the hair. Even more importantly, you will learn what you must do to prevent hair loss naturally, right now and in the future. The greatest myth ever is that baldness is inevitable.
One of the causes of baldness, Sigler contends, is that weve been trained by modern history and by culture to cut it short. The very length and weight of longer hair keeps our scalps healthier and encourages our hair to remain. The benefits of longer hair far outweigh any of the short-sighted advantages conferred by being short-shorn.
Supported by diverse research, from cutting-edge science to the Bible, Our LONG HAIRitage is a must-read for anyone concerned about their head.

Hi Roger,
Thanks very much for bringing this book to our attention. I see that it's available as a Kindle download for us here in the UK.
Cheers, Ian
Thank you Ian. Yes it is available in just about every format worldwide. One group of people I am trying to reach are those who wish to prevent baldness - If I can reach them, there will be alot less baldness and more longhairs, as it should be, in my humble opinion.
Cheers to you too, Roger.

For the hair experts on this site, Is this really true?
This sounds purely anecdotal to me, though I would be interested in seeing the hard science behind the statement. It makes sense that the weight of long hair would help to stimulate blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles, and that this might help maintain the health of said follicles. I am a bit put-off by the author's self-proclaimed use of the Christian bible as a source of information that he cites as "scientific," however. In my opinion, science and dogmatic religion don't mix, though this doesn't necessarily discount the validity of his theory that keeping long hair helps maintain a healthy scalp.

I totally agree with you there. I personally liked the book and can say I learned a thing or two from it, but the fact that religion was cited constantly and overused to prove points ended up turning me off quite a bit. I liked the historic section though.
Whether you like it or not, there is a ton of history in the Bible: I was amazed at all the positive statements about long hair that I found in it. The religious section is necessary to crush any argument made by crop-heads against long hair, you know those who claim to condemn long hair on misguided religious grounds. The idea that longer hair strengthens the muscles of the scalp is a scientific concept, is fully referenced, and has nothing to do with Christianity. The longer the hair the stronger the root was a statement by long hair expert Dr. George Michael. Skin biologist Dr. Loren Pickart believes the same. What you need to understand is that short hair promotes and accelerates baldness - this is what I prove in the book. Therefore, we need to encourage our short-haired friends that baldness is not inevitable. Baldness (for the most part) is a self-inflicted disease. If people heed the recommendations in the book, there would be (1) more men wearing long hair (or at lease longer hair) and (2) much less baldness. I realize the concept is new but is backed by science and backed by additional proof by the historical figures I cite and picture in the book.

Oh don't get me wrong. I never claimed that your citations are flawed, on the contrary I give you must respect for the citations presented on each page. It shows commitment and knowledge of the subject at hand. I also wasn't doubting Dr. George Michael's statement regarding long hair helping strengthen the scalp. I agree with every word of it and am on my way to becoming a longhair myself, hopefully soon :)
My only complaint was the overuse or religion and that it was used a bit too often. I do understand why that was done though. I actually saw a religious Jewish friend of mine today who made a comment about my hair and said i'd look more like a "man" if I got a haircut. I asked him what grounds he was basing that on and he was stumped... basically most religious crop-heads do see longhair as a bad thing, while the bible actually promotes it, so I do understand your point. Anyway I still loved the book. It was a great read and will be a good re-read again.
Well said. I know where you are coming from. You are absolutly correct. One reason I wrote it is to get these people (who are one of the primary groups who cause problems for us) out of extreme ignorance. So I go after them pretty hard. We need to get the book in their hands since they run many businesses. Let me know if you'd like some business cards to hand out and I can mail you some. We really need to open up the eyes of the religious community. In that way when they bring the subject up, you can say "well here's a fully referenced book written by a religious person who has proved that longer hair is healthier scientifically, and even shows how your own ancestors wore long hair." By the way thank you for your honest assessment of the book.
Our LONG HAIRitage
There are muscles in the scalp. The extra weight of longer hair trains those muscles to become larger, stronger. A 10 inch hair has 10x the weight of a one-inch hair. Think of weightlifters. Would they have stronger muscles by lifting 10 lbs or 100 lbs? The larger muscles require more blood flow and stimulates te scalp. And more reasons are given in the book why longer hair prevents baldness, and it discusses all the other man-made causes of baldness besides super-short hair.
Our LONG HAIRitage
Finally! A book with PROOF that long hairhas benefits! Maybe I should snag that for the holidays.
