Hello
I am a long time lurker on this forum and i make now the step to make a post here and introduce myself. My name is Michalel, i am 30 years old and i work as a muralist painter artist.since forever i loved long hair as a guy but by some reasons i couldn't grow it up until around 2004 when i had first attempt.I managed to grow about shoulder lenght but because of poor care ...or should i say lack of care my hair damaged beyound repair and i cut it off all.
1 year ago i started again a second atempt of growing hair..but this time i made extensive research regarding taking care and other tips.During research i find this site and since then i check it daily for new stuff.
Regarding hair.. i got thick wavy hair at about 6 inch lenght at this moment.Iven i am 30 years only, i aready got extensive white hairs especialy in front.also i have dry hair wich tend to become oily at roots and dry at ends.
For moment i use a organic soap to wash the hair..i noticed is not so hard as a shampoo, and for conditioner i use only coconut oil. i wash at 4 days intervals.I take also Biotin 1000mg and some hair complex vitamins.
Questions i have:It is good washing hair only with soap, insteed of sulfate free shampoo?
It is good ignorring conditioner for coconut oil..or coconut oil should be used only as a supliment above conditioner when necesary?
I am glad i find this nice site and community and i hope to blend better some day.
P.S. Excuse me for poor english..
Greetings Michalel and welcome to the mlhh as a first time poster:)Sounds like you've already had experience with longhair even though if the original attempt was not successful. You have the correct idea as to better care for your hair at the early stages being that will benefit you as your hair lengthens. My own hair tends to be dry after being washed but as the days go by it oils up and is much more silky then.I only wash my hair twice a week. Also I use coconut oil, mainly as needed, as I used to use it frequently but my hair was getting way too oily and kind of clumping together. It almost looked as if I hadn't washed my hair in over a month even though it was only days.So coconut oil is good in moderation.I tend to shampoo with a drop or two so as not to overly dry out my hair afterwards. If I do then I have to get out the coconut oil to fix that.Anyway I hope this helps and hope to see more of you here my friend:)Cheers

ps:I'd love to see an example of your artwork if at all possible to post a pic:)
Hello Michalel,
Welcome to the Men's Long Hair Hyperboard. You have nice thick dark hair. I wash mine once or twice a week with an organic fragrance free shampoo and condition it after rinsing. Good luck with this part of your long hair journey.
peace, jonalbear
Your hair is beautiful, love the color and length.
