Hello,
I am new to this site ,but have decided to grow out my previous buzz-cut and it's its about two inches longer than it was once I embarked on this journey so I need some suggestions on the best hair brushes.
what brands and types you could possibly recommend because up until now I've always had short haircut usually the types most barbers are quite familiar with, but i decided on a new course and that is
LONGER HAIR
any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I don't brush my hair too often but when I do I use a Conair brush like this:

I usually just comb through it in the shower with one of these:

I find that it's best to get large knots out with a comb, and then smooth out all the oils on the scalp and shafts with a boar-hair brush.
This should be done when the hair is dry, since it will stretch while wet, possibly leading to damage. Combing is a very slow process for me since I do not simply pull knots out. Instead I start at the bottom and slowly work my way up, extending the length of my strokes (always pulling down). This will prevent the brush from "gliding over" knots, allowing them to increase in size.
I don't know how much boar-hair brushes cost. I actually use my mom's. Ha ha.
Should you use a brush with long hair? I've always been
under the impression that you should only use
a wide tooth comb, that a brush will damage your hair.
