Recently I finished my bachelor of engineering.
So now it's time to travel, I will be going to Australia and New-Zealand for about 5 months. After that I will be going home and go on another trip in Norway and Sweden.
As some people on facebook have discovered the hair is gone. I thought about it for a long time and I'm happy with the way it is now. I have enjoyed having long hair very much but I don't want the maintenance on the road.
Thanks everybody for the great time here! I'm sure I will be back here someday with the hair. It's already starting to grow and I will probably let it grow during my trip and after that.
Vincent
Fair decision, Vincent. I wish you good luck for your trips. After Australia, go to northern europe, it's fantastic ;-)
Vivien.
Thank you very much.
I've been in Sweden before but only around Stockholm, this time I want to see more of the wilderness and maybe even go to the north cape. But first things first, Australia!
That's great you're going to be able to do such extensive traveling. Some of my best memories are from trips I've taken. It's truly a life-enriching experience.
Funny, I've really enjoyed having long hair while visiting different places. It's great for photos in new locales.
I wish you the best man and check in from time to time! Your hair has been very inspiring to many and I hope you'll inspire others when you grow it out again!!
I've been looking forward to travel for a long time and now it's finally happening.
It sure would be great for the photos, but you can't have everything.
Of course I will check in when I have the time, I love this board.
As long as you are happy, Vincent! :) I hope your travels go great for you and make sure to bring back plenty of pictures :) Cheers!
You're right that's very important. I hope so too and I will take pictures, you can find them on my website. But beware don't look if you don't want to see me with short hair (in general, not for Mark who has already seen the facebook picture)
Hi Vincent,
Longhair can be a hassle to look after on the road whilst traveling, and if it makes life easier then cutting in your case was probably a good idea. It will always grow back and your hair has inspired a lot of guys here on the MLHB.
I have visited 15 countries when I was younger in my late teens and early 20's and this is a great time to do this travel before you settle down. As Jason says travel is greatly enriching as life experience. You will understand more about yourself and what you want out of life. My English cousin Lucy, came out to Australia as a packpacker with a girlfriend, met an Australian fellow here and ended up married and living in Australia.
When you visit Australia and if by chance you call in to visit the nation's capital city of Canberra, I would be delighted to meet you and show you around.
Cheers,
Duncan (Canberra,A.C.T. Australia)
Hi Duncun,
I'm made the right decision, although it was a hard one.
People can still look through the archives if they want to see inspirational pictures. I will not post pictures for a while.
Awesome you've traveled so much, I want to do that too. Funny what things can happen at the road. We'll see what my trip brings.
I'm not sure yet where I will be going, but when I'm there I will contact you. Thanks for the offer.
Vincent
Bon Voyage Vincent.
Hair does not make the man. Good luck in all the endeavors of your life!
peace, jonalbear
Thanks Jonalbear, nice way to put it!
Hi Vincent,
Congratulations on your accomplishments in engineering and what a way to reward yourself with all that travel. With the way the economy is that's probably a good idea to enjoy yourself as your alternative would be to slug it out for a job at the moment.
On another note I'm sad to hear you have given up on longhair but that's your decision.I'd have thought it would've been cool to travel, like you are planning, with a magnificent mane but that's just me I guess.Well your young and if you desire growing it back should be easy since you know the drill.Anyway enjoy your travels and don't forget you old friends here at mlhh:)Cheers
Mark
Thanks Mark,
Of course I won't forget about you guys, I've had a great time over here.
Well the things is, I've always hated hair maintenance but at home I could bear it, on the road I won't so it's better to cut it of then having awful looking hair. Hair is only nice when taken care of and I won't do that properly on the road.
Vincent
Hey Vincent,
In a way I can understand where you are coming from in regards to hair maintenance.Sometimes you just don't feel like dealing with your hair if you are busy such as you'd be while traveling.I would always want my hair looking its best and if I started getting lax with that it would bother me.Thankfully you are young enough to easily regrow your hair at a future date when you settle down:)So please don't feel I'm dissatisfied with you just because you cut.Frankly I won't look at your haircut pic on Facebook as I'd rather remember you as the longhair on mlhh:) It's just that is how I'd rather remember you my friend. So enjoy your travels and play safe:) Cheers
Mark
Personally I don't understand what travelling has to do with haircuts. For the sake of ultimate scalp health, I would recommend nothing short of shoulder length hair. In other words if long hair down the back is cumbersome, I would merely trim it to shoulder length (or at least to the base of the neck). In this way the neck and ears would still be protected from the elements. Hair is designed to take an incredible beating (from the weather) compared to bare skin.
Wish you Godspeed for your travels!

Well the other options was your suggestion going to shoulder length, but in the end I decided to cut everything of. It will grow back during the trip so then I will have new scalp protection :)
Thanks!
Hi Vincent,
I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to you on completing your degree, that is awesome! All the best in your travels, and stay safe.
Of course I am sorry to hear about the hair, but glad to know that you are growing it again. Remember, you are welcome here at anytime!
Take care,
David
Thanks David,
Of course I will drop by from time to time!
Vincent
Hi Vincent and congratulations. Good luck on your travels, enjoy every moment of every new experience. Ian
