Hi all. Just wanted to share some photo's of my progress at 10 months. I can hardly believe that in only 2 months I'll have reached my 1 year goal. I have to admit, I doubted myself in the beginning as to whether I'd make it or not. In 3 weeks I'll be going to visit family and will be preparing myself for the questions and comments.
My hair is very thick and wavy and I am still getting alot of the flipping in the back. I'm curious to see how it's going to look at the 1 year mark. I'm more curious to see it when I reach 2 years.
I appreciate the continued support that the forum offers. It's been an interesting journey. Oh the stares I get when I go places. Mostly because of the beard, but now that I've started growing the hair out it's hard to imagine what people think of me. Not that I care, but it gets real interesting when I go shopping with the wife and kids. I've encountered some very rude people who look at me like I'm a freak, yet I've met some really great people who give me positive feedback.
Anyway, I'm rambling again. Take care and hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
It's looking great; the color is especially nice. Yeah, some people are narrow-minded. But then there are those who look upon people who do something a bit out of the ordinary, and inwardly approve, and are perhaps even envious. Unfortunately, they're often too wrapped up in convention, and are afraid to show any outward signs of approval. It's just the way things are.
Absolutely great look, I love the colorm texture, and wave. You are bound for glory, sir. Your beard is wonderful. My beard, were I to grow one would not even aprocah such magnitude. Do not worry for the looks and commentary may be as much from envy as anything else. Thanks for the update.
Awesome thickness and colour! Congrats on 10 months growth. Don't stop now!

I envy your beard, sir. Play your cards right and you're going to look like Anthony Hopkins did in the movie Thor. Can't wait to see the update pics, brother!
Excellent update there, bearded piper!!
You are probably way more mentally and emotionally prepared than most guys who are growing their manes out for the first time, if for no other reason than you've already been through the experience of growing your long beard out.
So glad to hear that your wife & kids don't sound like they have any problem whatsoever re. you growing your hair out and looking a bit "different" in public, especially when compared to the "average" husband / dad.
In my opinion, you have the ideal type of hair that will look hands-down FANTASTIC as it gradually gets long, looonger, and then eventually to whatever loooooooong hair goal-length you choose to stop at... Hmmm, maybe by the time it reaches the floor, a modest trim might be in order?? (LOL)

HAHAHAHA You are so funny, Ken! :)
It's really coming along great! The thickness and waviness will be your friends in the long run. The waves will evolve into elongated ones as your hair lengthens and it weighs more. Nothing beats thick long hair.
Fly your freak flag with pride! I do.
Your long hair announces to the world that you're your own person with a strong sense of individuality and not to be herded with the masses.
OhGingerBeardedOne,
That is oh-my-gosh-off-the-charts-incredible-sweetness in hair form!!!!!!! Seriously. It's drool-like-Homer-Simpson-dreaming-of-donuts gorgeous!! Actually, it's even more gorgeous than that!! Forget the naysayers - be they family or not. You are the *King*, with a *crown* of auburn hair, you *RULE*!!!!! You are soooo lucky - you have *perfect* hair - thick, beautiful, colortastic, wavy - and you don't even have to color or style it!!!!! ***JEALOUS*** I can't believe it's only been 10 months -- it will only get more awesome from here on out!!!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures!! :)
Thank you for the very kind message Laura. It makes up for the negative comments. I personally don't get worked up anymore when people make snide remarks or comments about the beard or hair. In the beginning I sure did.
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret.... I've always dreamed of playing the role of Tanis the Half-elf from the Dragonlance Chronicles series if they ever made it into a movie. I used to read those books every year as a kid and still reread them sometimes now.
Well, thanks again and have a great day.
... though I've always been more the Caramon-type, myself :)
