In the late 60s. I had a good griend in High school. We got a good natured contest going in '68 as to who could grow their hair longer. he won. And kept his hair near waist length since that tme. Still to today and a healthy beard as well. speckled now with gray. I know a number of folks like myself, have returned to long hair after a time. But who has "kept the faith" as it were? How long have any of you had long hair? My friend I mentioned now lives deep in the Ozarks, with his wife, also a freind since HS, has a quiet life fishing and hunting and is one hell of a chef, cooks some fantastic meals. however he still keeps his hair & beard long and has for 43 years and counting.
Longish since I was 15 and really long hair since I was 23, and I'm 54. That doesn't beat 45 years, though, which would be hard, as that would mean having long hair since before age 9 in my case, and my parents would never have let me grow long hair at that age.
I have had long hair most of the time since 1975 - 1976; I had to cut it short twice as I was called in for military service (only to be sent back home because I was too heavy). Last time I had to cut my hair short was in 1987 - that makes 24 years of continuously being a long hair.

A Linux Longhair
Two years growing from short - so it's only been "long" for about one year. I had it "longish" (over my ears) for a few years when I was a kid but that doesn't really count.
Guess I'm not really in the running huh? It's all new territory for me! :)

Rktect,
When I first got out of the Army in 1975 I let my hair grow for about 4 yrs before I cut it. Started letting it grow out again in 1993. Mullet for a few years and then started letting the sides grow back out without trims about 8 years ago! So about 18 years for the tail!
