I know that it is a popular procedure to put coconut oil in your hair. This makes my hair feel wonderful and healthy, but it makes me think of my scalp.
For instance, oily skin leads leads to clogged pores and pimples. Why can't we assume the same thing happens to our scalp? Oiling our hair, and rinsing with only water. How does this not negatively affect our scalps? Or does it??
Shark, I think you are right. Oils are good for your hair(Coconut, Almond, Jojoba etc as well as natural oils) but your hair does need to be washed (Not frequently)so that natural oils or additives can be cleansed and regenerate. I use mild, odor free shampoo twice a week and not many additives.

Thanks for the answer, jonalbear!!
So you shampoo twice a week. That sounds about right for me. This is typically what I try to do:
Shampoo: 1 or 2 times a week
Condition: 2 or 3 times a week (if I shampoo, I condition)
Oil with coconut oil: ???
How often should we be oiling our hair?? Every day?
