I guess there are more short haired dudes overall, but I have noticed a lot of long haired guys around. I recently moved to Miami and I stay right in the city, close to the 'hood so there are a lot of black people around where I stay. It may just be my imagination but it seems like most of the black guys around this area have long dreadlocks. Sometimes when I go out, it is almost hard to find a short haired black guy. Maybe not that hard, but I swear at least half the black guys around here have long dreads. Maybe it's something that moved up here from the island culture, like rastas and stuff.
I don't know, just an observation. I've noticed black guys with long dreads in lots of places, especially here in the south, mostly Florida and Georgia. Lots of dudes in Florida have long dreads it seems.
With white guys, it seems much more rare. Latino/Hispanic guys have long hair a little more than white guys but not much. But combined, it's not even close to the amount of black guys with long dreads, they are everywhere down here.
This is generally a good thing, of course. But has anyone else noticed this? Because I see a lot of guys on here talking about how long haired guys are hard to find. Come to Florida. There are a few short haired black guys, but a whole lot more dreads it seems. Some short dreads, but apparently a lot of guys let their dreads grow long.
Yes, this has been quite noticeable in many places: Virginia Beach and Louisiana too. White men need the hair most of all because it protects the fair skin from overexposure to the sun. I guess most of the dummies have not figured this out yet. I'm trying to get the word out though - see my book, Our LONG HAIRitage.
